I have this spare 6bolt head that came with the car I just bought. I want to build the head and clean it up but the damn lifters are stuck on the head. I have tried compressed air through the hole that squirts oil but didnt work at all. I have tried using WD-40, left it there for an hour soaked, and still wont budge. I tried a hammer to take it out using the other end that removes nails but that ended up taking out the top part of the lifters.

Running out of Ideas.

Anyone ave suggestions?

Thanks

I seen this one time. Tore the plunger out and took an end mill and turned out the lifter. You can also use heat. What about baking the head to 300 degrees to expand the head and then cooling the lifter to make it contract. Who knows, just thinking out side the box.

propane torch and a visegrips works just fine on stuck lifters. Heat up the aluminum, pull out the lifter with the vise grips. It usually just takes a little jerk to remove them.
