Ok one set of lifters don't move up and down they are solid hard try to pres them.

The other set of lifters do go up and down when i pres them and pull them.

why cause i don't know which ones to install.

You need to bleed and clean them before installing. The hard set has likely not been bled properly. If they still are hard and stuck after bleeding them, they are probably not useable.

Are these sets of 8 or 16?

they are set of 16 from two diffrent heads that i have the hard ones came from my running car and the soft ones came from my old car that has been sitting from a long time the head has like 35xxx miles

So which ones shoild i use oh i have not bleed none of the set so i will do, i can search some how to.

Thanks guys, so when the lifters are to hard to pump is not good to install. They are to be bleed first and when they are bleed and still hard its time to buy new ones correct

and they are both 2g lifters i did the oil port mod, so as long they move up and down are good.

If you let them soak in solvent for a few hours it should free up most of them. Just depress the check-ball/plunger every once and a while.

But technically yes, if you can't get them free and the parts not working, I would buy a new working part.

Make 100% sure you bleed the lifters down before installing the camshafts. Otherwise, valves may hang open and hit pistons. This is basically releasing the check ball, pushing the plunger ALL the way down and repeat this a few times until no oil comes out.

And if you're curious-

Simple green isn't a solvent. You need to use something oil based. Go get a half gallon of diesel fuel and soak them for a day or 2.

Set them all in a tub of solvent (Service Manual mentions diesel fuel for this)

Take a folded out paper clip and release the little check ball while pushing down on the plunger. Do this a few times and it should free up most, if not all lifters.
