Ok so I know i have a bad lifter...I can hear it tapping. So im going to skip all the BS and get straight to the point. I have the lifters out but what I want to know is, how can i tell if a lifter is bad if they have not been ran in a long time (i.e. they have already been drained and obviously because of this you can push them in and out with ease). If I drop them in a can of oil....push them down and then let them spring back, they will fill with oil correct? And then once they do this, if I can press them in they would be trash? I just want to make sure I dont throw a bad lifter back into my car.

I thought so but when i had them sitting in oil, and i compressed them, no oil entered the lifter. I compressed, turned upside side, and then when i compressed again nothing came out. My new lifters will be here tuesday anyways
