Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

Hey gang

I have a quick question about this kit
I just received mine in the mail, it came with about six hoses, a whole bunch of t-clamps, and even a fake tial WOW!!!!!!!!!! LOL

My question is this: Are the clamps and hoses good, or should i replace them?
Is the fake tial worth mounting or should i stick with my trusty 1g BOV?
And lastly: For what BOV is the intercooler pipe flanged for????

Sorry for the long post, just trying to be specific.
Thanks in advance guys
:talon:

If you got a fake tial it was not the ssac kit. The kit shown and sold on here doesn't come with a bov, and is only flanged for a 1g bov. Any links or pictures of what you do have?

I think he's talking about the 1g kit with the ridiculously unneccessary piping.

Right you are mangina24, i got the 1g kit with the unnecessary piping LOL. And also the tial style BOV. And what about my question about the clamps, hoses and BOV? Are they good?

To be honest with you I don't really know.

This thread has been primarily about the 2g short route fmic kit and the older 1g short route fmic kit. The one you purchase hasn't been very popular do to it's ridiculously long piping.

i think i know what kit your talking about as i have the same kind with the one long pipe with a hook bend? ive installed this kit on two different 1g,s as far as i can tell the t-bolt clamps that came witht he kit work great, and the only problem i had with the hoses where some were the wrong size, as for the fake tial bov,, i would say put it on,, try it and if it works great if not toss it and buy a real one. if you wanna see install pics give me a message. hope that helps.....:talon:

Thanks for the reply mangina24, and also i would love to see pics of the install 1ghaaaaaw. If it is possible send me some to my email [email protected]

I'm sure that will be a great help when i get to install it this week.
I'll be waiting on those pics bro.

Thanks in advance
Jorge:talon:

1ghaaaaaw would you also be willing to share your install pics with me? I also have this same 1G kit and I'm looking for any help I can get with installing this kit (the one with the excessively long piping), as most of the threads refer to the 2G kit.

jorge4g63, how's your install going?

MESSAGE SENT.

yeah ebay front mounts are nice and pipes are good too. only one problem with long pipe. it was like to short. this is for a 1g by the way. so all i did is was take a 2g stock upper intercooler pipe. it like worked perfect. put some t-bolts on them and bam. this is the lower pipe.has anyone else had this problem???

Speaking of modifying, I just put my LIPC back on so I figured I'd snap a couple pics to show how mine is setup. this is the SSAC kit with the middle pipe cut about 4" and joined with an extra coupler.

Hey Mangina, you still sell this kit on ebay man? i've been trying to get ahold of you for a week now through email but no luck... PM me when you see this. I'll be ordering one from SSAC if i dont here from you within a few days. Thanks.

Yeah The Crash Beam On 1g,s Tend To Get In The Way,, I Just Removed It , Less Added Weight Lol Sometimes You Can Just Notch It To Fit Up The Fmic And Still Have 80% Of Your Bar Left, We Just Did It On A 90 Worked Out Good, Seems Like The Pipes Tho Never Fit Perfact , You Have To Trim A Little Here And There But Over All For The Price Its Works Great.
