I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

Why did sSAC get off ebay? i cant find me a 1g FMIC kit?? anyone know were they went.....

Contact ssautochrome direct. I know for me(2g) they said they could sell me one for $295 shipped. Heard they were sold out for the moment though, but don't know if that is just for the 2g fmic or also for the 1g ones. Go to their website:http://www.ssautochrome.com/level.itml/icOid/1438
Contact them and see what the "group buy" price is shipped to your door.

Anybody using a core bought from "etdmotors", "cxracing" or "just-intercoolers"? It seems they all are the same company, or at least the same products.

Yeah, I bought one a couple months ago and made my own short route pipes from one of their universal 2.5" kits. I am very happy with the intercooler. It seems very well made. I don't know the exact cooling efficiency since I have an MAFT mine is fixed at 80* in DSMLink. But, I will say that running 22 psi on a 90* day the inlet side was pretty hot and the outlet side was much cooler. I would say probably about the outside temp or a little cooler. It really only felt slightly warm. And I run my car hard. Sorry, no real numbers there.

As far as pressure drop, when I was running 18 psi, I ran my boost gauge tubing down to the j-pipe to see what pressure was at the turbo vs the pressure I had been seeing at the intake manifold. I have a GM3bar logging boost in the manifold and I could not see any difference between the j pipe pressure and the GM3bar. There might have been a .5 psi difference, but I couldn't tell.

I paid $238 shipped for the IC, piping, 4 ply silicone couplers, and SS t-bolt clamps. He has a website... cxracing.com or the ebay site etdmotors. I am very satisfied. This stuff looks like good quality, and good welds.

i got my piping kit from cxracing, very good quality aluminum.its nice and thick .its not thin like the other kits on ebay, and all the pipes are polished too.after i did my piping on my car(short route) i had more than half of the pipes left over.i paid 105 shipped for the piping.

couplers are good quality too..havent had a problem with them yet,but then again im not running over 20psi yet since i havent bought my dsmlink .

the t bolt clamps are great quality, they are real strong and i got about 16 of them with the kit

I'm starting to consider a front mount intercooler. It's going to have to be eBay so I can afford it. The way I want to do it is buy a nice sized core, and then do my own piping. So I don't know if these cores have already been talked about because this thread is way to long to search through, but here's what I was considering. Any help/opinions would be great, Thanks!

The cores I'm considering...Any good? Which is better?

And I need to do custom piping. So I was thinking of something like these:

Your going to want bigger piping then that, its only 2 inch.

Towards the first couple pages of this 63 page thread people have posted/discussed ebay cores with custom piping, after that it pretty much turned into a 2G SSAC kit thread, with a few custom ones in between.

You might find several on this very thread, just looking for it is difficult because its so dense. You can use the Search this thread function to maybe narrow it down: http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237530&page=63&nojs=1#goto_threadsearch

Any reason why you just won't go with the SSAC kit?

dont waste your money on that obx intercooler, it sits crooked and is not a quality product. I was thinking of going with a obx at first to, but then i spent an extra 20 bucks for a SSAC FMIC

I think I might have found these SSAC kits on Ebay again. I noticed that the piping is being sold separately from the core and the seller is different. SSAC has a habit of using different usernames so it might just be them. It's a little more expensive but I picked a kit up anyway for $350 shipped total from both auctions.

If anybody wants the kit here it is:

BoostedinSoFla, nice find, thats the SSAC all right.

It's the same seller, it looks like he separated the pipes from the core to make more money.

The TAX kills the cali guys, it will cost around $400 total. I knew I should've bought 5 when they were only $250 shipped..

Come on, I thought you guys said EBAY sucks?!?! hahah.

Thats not the ssac one. That core is bigger. The ssac is 28x10x3

It's the same core. They measured it from end tank to end tank, the SSAC ads measure from just the actual bar and plate core.

Minus the little over 4" from their length measurement, and you have the exact dimensions of the SSAC 28X10.5X3.5

Of course it's the same kit. Thanks for explaining RedTurboEclipse. Anyway I can't wait to get it.

Can you tell me how these kits do with the T-25? I've already read how to route the piping to the turbo but how about the performance? Will I see slower spool times?

Giving out wrong information is a no no here. If your interested they are selling a ssac kit on ebay, and as you can see it is different, one way to tell is the top brackek is on the bottom of the other one.

Umm, yes that is or exactly like the SSAC kit.

Here are the pics from the auction BoostedinSoFla posted:

Now here are pics from the ORIGINAL SSAC/XS ebay ads:

Of course, you might go... nOOO thats not the SSAC kit because look at the 90* pipe from the SSAC/XS ads, well, assuming you have the kit, you know thats not the one it actually comes with. The one you actually get, is the one you get from the auction BoostedinSoFla posted.

Again here is a picture of the ic piping from the "real" SSAC kit

It's the same, he is not giving any wrong info. Everything exact, even down to the missing coupler!

Also you mentioned to check that ad you posted:

How can we tell with that nasty bodykit covering the core.

Again look at the pics I posted, look at the inlet and outlet of the core, one is upside down thats why they may look different to you. Flip it, and BAM! Same thing.

I hate to tell you that is not a SSAC intercooler. Not even there design. SSAC isnt selling their I/C on e-bay anymore, not the kits for our cars any way. You need 2 get in touch w 2gawdtalon(I think thats his name) on here and he can sell you one.

Anybody who has the SSAC kit will tell you it's the same. I can print the pics from those auctions, look at the pics I took of mine, or go to my car in the garage and confirm it if need be. Those are the same. SSAC DID NOT design that kit, they just copied it from AGP. It's mass produced somewhere in Asia as OEM, and rebadged by a company who choses to purchase it in bulk.

Now thats settled, JohnCIV_Talon, thanks for the link, thats actually cheaper than the person selling the core and the pipes separately.

Anyone having to grind down there fan just a 1/4 inch or so using the ssac kit. I'm having trouble finding something to grind it down with. I bought a dremel and it just tore right through everything I tried on it.

I had to grind down just a little but off the fan shroud and the little piece of aluminum hanging off the side of the radiator. Also, it makes it easier if you clamp the coupler on the FMIC before you put it on the car, it is hard to tighten it up if you try to put it on with it already mounted.
