Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

If I get the 1g kit, can I still use my crash bar?? Looks like the pipe that crosses won't fit with the crash bar...

Or could I use a 2g kit on my 1g??

I'd rather have a short route piping, but I do have an 02 dump that probably would interfere or dump right onto the piping.

Opinions on this??

The XS-Power short route kit with the pipes just seems to good to be true! Has anyone leak tested any XS-Power cores?? (or SSautochrome for that matter)

almost forgot, i also looped my trans cooler line in the engine bay.
I'm probably reading this wrong, but if by that you are refferring to the Automatic Transmission cooler line, you may want to rethink that. An AT tranny won't last more than a few hundred miles without a tranny cooler.

Where did you see the short route from?

^ on the 2g, if you look at the core you will see an outlet facing backwards, that goes inbetween the radiator and the rest of the frame and runs straight up to the tb

I guess I should ask will a 2g kit work on a 1g car??? Or don't I have those same openings?? It really seems like it should work...

I like that one. Those mounting tabs look like they'd make installation very simple, and the core itself is huge, and bar/plate too.

At the current prices for bar and plate intercoolers of this size, I should have waited a few months, instead of buying a tube/fin intercooler. Oh well.

What do you think about "MISHIMOTO-Deluxe FMIC Intercooler"
Ebay...
I think is not bad at all for 98$ + S&H...

I have that fmic but i have the bigger version. Core is 24x12x3 and the whole thing is 30.5x12x3. Just search for xo2 racing on ebay since they use the same fmic and slap on a xo2 racing sticker on the core. I have heard good things of the mishimoto core but i haven't logged any runs yet to see any differences between my old fmic and the new one

In the first pic what happened there? The top of the core looks somewhat bent was it bad shipping or did you drop it by accident?

you guys need to kick back on the bidding on the XS-Power fmic kits.. yall are killing the deals making it go up as much as $400 (dsmdemon96, and 98spoolingst).. These can be had for $280 shipped if yall are patient...

What is the 1g kit reserve set at, anyone know?? Or will the 2g kit fit my 1g?

I havent see a first gen kit. We should email them so they know there is some interest.

The 1g kits are on there, but they're a long route, like the FMIC install on a 1g pictures in the Tech Articles/How To section. I wanna know if I can keep my crash bar with that kit or if I can get a short route kit.

If you're talking about the power steering cooler lines, I did a write-up on my FMIC install and down towards the end, I have a decent pic of one way to do it. Here's the link.
