I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

For my tranny dipstick I just put my long 3/8 inch drive extension in it and bent it towards the driver side of the car. It bent really easy and didn't kink. I just have to push the lower radiator hose out of the way a little bit to check the fluid.

That is what I did. Makes it a little aggravating to fill the ATF up though

Wow red! I have an EBay Intake (Bomz) The xspower FMIC AND the knockoff HKS SSQV BOV and all are working great. Am I copying you or are you copying me? hahahahah, just thought it was kinda funny.

P.S.- I also plan to get a PTE 50 Trim

Man i've been trying to get one of these cores for a long time but everytime i try and ask questions or order they are out of stock.

So has anyone with the 2g xs/ssautochrome fmic had trouble bolting the uicp (t.b. section) to the throttle body? Specificly this bolt....

There ya go! that what I was trying to mention in your other thread. You got it on, thats how it 's suppose to be. Tighten it up by hand as much as you can, then use a combonation wrench. I forgot which end actually worked, the open or closed. But either way one of those will give just a tiny bit of room to tighten it very slowly, but it will work.

I believe only one other person had this problem, it was my98gst, the person who setup the group buy. And we told him the samething.

Again, tighten as much as you can by hand, then use combo wrench to very slowly tighten it up. simple as that.

Man I have tried every wrench I own, I got em all! I can hardly get half a turn on it but I have to back it up half a turn to get the damn wrench off!!!

Can you get the closed end of the combination wrench on there? If so I would try a ratcheting one to make it easier.

I have only been able to get the open side of a 12mm combo on it. The problem is I am at that one point where the wrench wont go on it no matter what way you flip it.

Im to the point where Im ready to take the pipe off and beat a dent in it! LOL!

Did you get that TB Elbow flange resurfaced at a machine shop?

It has nothing to do with the flange, though I'd still recommend at least checking it with a real straighedge, mine was 22 thousandths out of flat. With that damn bolt, you have to loosen the rest of them and hold the pipe out to get a wrench on it. That's the only way I've been able to do it. Also, yeah, you're only going to get a 1/4-1/3 turn each time. It sucks, but what are you gonna do, it's a $300 kit.

Are you serious? Find me a better deal on an FMIC kit like this, please. $295 shipped for the IC, pipes, couplers, and clamps. Shit, the exact same IC core comes from AGP for $900. Thanks, but I'll take the SSAC one any day. So there are a couple minor fitment problems, it's a DSM, modifications have to be made to many so-called "bolt-on" parts.

i have the xs power one... after hacking off the bottom of my t25 n making a 90degree pipe from the stock piping it worked great. def cant beat it for the price. there turbos on the other hand....i dont kno bout them. heard some good n some bad

Well I just drove my car with a new engine and installed this kit at the same time. The temp runs about 3/4 hot. Before it used to be half way. I know part of the reson is I live in AZ and the outside temp today was 106. Maybe a little redline water wetter will help. I also had to cut 6 inches out of the lower intercooler pipe To make it fit SBR 16G J pipe for FMIC. I must say my cars grill looks pimper than paul walls!

I just got one from ebay and it is built really well. It is 27x9x2.75 with 2.5" inlets. It is bar and plate design and cost about $114.00 shipped. I haven't installed it yet but I just wanted to let you guys know the build of it. The end tanks are nice and thick and the welds are good. I will let you guys know how it turns out once it is installed.

LOL, yeah it is a sweet looking Front mount, especially on a 2gb! Did any of the rest of you have a problem with the LICP rubbing the oil filter housing?

At first I did, but I used washers as spacers on the two side mounting tabs. I just added more until I got the depth I was looking for. Does that make any sense?

i bought an ebay fmic from i think ssac about 2 months ago the intercooler is great the pipes they sent really didnt "jive" if you know what i mean, but for the money you definantly cant turn these away... it works great and plus they look sweet what could be better for 300 dollars

I think the elbow that come off the tb is a PITA. I had such a hard time getting that bottom right bolt in, and I even cut a slit to slide it over the bolt.
