Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

yeah 295 shipped and mine came in like 5 days which seemed about average or even a little bit long compared to how long it took everyone else to get theirs. Anticipate not getting one coupler and 2 t bolt clamps though, everyone has been missing those parts. Also, the BOV flange may need to be grinded down so that it is flat and will be flush with your bov.

Hey, I was just wondering if you ever confirmed that the paypal address you listed a couple of post up, was the right one for ssautochrome. I plan on ordering mine tonight and just wanted to double check.

I finally got my car up and running again, so I decided to give her a nice bath and snap some pics of the install. Enjoy :thumb: Can you see my 1g in the background :sneaky:

Nice work blacknspooln. How did you mount your type s right to the 1G flange. Did you have to drill new holes, or is it slotted. Also, what did you use for a gasket? The same one you took off your other pipe I suppose?

Yes they confirmed that as the address to send it to.. The same one as Eclipseesplice, thought it was eclipse spice. haha.. idk why that made me laugh. Confirmed last night paypal'd today hopefully it comes soon so i can stop working on my car in the garage.. Got caught working on it and i'm not supposed to in there.. Dam it. It'll be installed when it hits my door step i'll take pics.

BlackNspoolin what was the reason you shorten the lower pipe 6". To long to begin with or was that your choice?

How's our 1g guy doing? If you can do it easily enough then I'm going to go ahead and get this kit.. No Pressure :p

im almost done, i will post pics once i am, then you can judge the ease of the install for yourself. but from my point of view, it is worth every penny.
later

Heres some pics of my fmic mounted. I figured instead of going with 97 front, having to paint it, and buying headlights. I could save the money and get a DSMlink. Plus i gotta represent :talon: (inspiration from dvdfab) :D

I'm going to get a new flange to have welded on since I'm using a different bov. I have the choice of a steel flange or aluminum. I'm guessing I should probably get the aluminum one since the piping is aluminum right?

Im not a welder but i dont think that you can weld aluminum and steel together. I would get aluminum just to be safe.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Just wanted to be sure. The aluminum one is only $5 more so no big deal.
