I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

I dont know what everyone else used to cut out the radiator support but i used a holesaw,it worked great and only took 20 seconds. It was a perfect fit for the tanks to go in,I didnt have to trim it or nothing.I would recommend using one if you got it.Using a sawzall seems a little akward to get in there.
.

My weapons of choice. a 6 pack of Guiness, and a 6 pack of Rolling Rock, a Sawzall, 4 blades for the sawzall, and a Skill Saw with a mill bit to round off the rough edges.....

I'll let you guys use your imagination on how the step's went in order LOL

First pic, 75% mounted, I didn't have the screws in the front of the sides, just the hood latch's and the two back sides. I was just seeing how much more I'd need to trim and as you can see the bottom lip is pushed out due to more needing to be cut out of the bottom corners.

Second pic.......Complete Darkness, a sexy FMIC, and one extremely happy drunk fella that you cant see ROFL

Not melting, but in time it penetrates through which my guess is from heat and turns all black which has happen to both my old FMIC setups.

Also is not even done. I wish I knew how I could add an additional page. Do I need to talk to Ludachris? or wait till a mod gives it the okay?

Ya you need to finish it, that will help me so much, I already made a list of those parts to get.:thumb: But what is the third 10mm bolt for?

Anyways thanks for being so helpful, I cant wait to get started and get it on.

I have it done but I took several pictures of every step to be very detailed for everyone and I'm allowed to post only 10pictures but I could make another page for more pictures but it won't let me. I'm already making the pictures smaller and putting 2 to 3 pictures together as one whole pic... unless I can figure out a way to make another page. I also posted my Dyno pic but thats the last picture...

WOW! I can't wait to see it. I'll post pics when i get mine installed, hope to start working on it Tuesday with some help from Narco.

Reached underneath the front lip where it splits into the top and bottom and pulled the top one up :cough cough: I left it a tid bit longer for some odd reason...It's pretty snug so I don't think I'm going to have to worry about it coming down.

True enineering at its finest ROFL

Just curious. When you gus intsalled your kits, did you guys have a bit of space inbetween the pipes when it was all assembeled? I have about a 1/2 inch. The couplers over it up just fine, but I just wanted to make sure this is okay!
Thanks!

yeah except i had more than an 1/2 inch of space between the pipe and thus had to get a longer coupling.

I had the exact same problem,I had to buy longer couplers as well.So if you only have a 1/2 inch thats good.

I only had at most an inch. It all depends on how you mounted the core I think. If you mounted it how GreddyGST's guide says (which is how I did it) (using the fog light holes) you get the 1/2-1 inch gap between pipes.

I guess the licp needs to be cut or the part it connects to off the drivers side endtank. It seems as though it hits my oilfilter housing if I am not goin to cut it to make it come in closer....
Did you end up cutting some of the licp off? Im at that stage too, mine is hitting as well. If you did, which one did you cut? the endtank part or the licp? And about how much?

Thanks!

I had to cut the bottom licp like 2inches,cause it was hitting the oil pump.I also had to cut the 90* elbow a little to make it fit for my 14b.
