Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

those endtanks are so wierd for a 1g. It's to bad they couldn't have just made 1g guys a shorroute kit cause that long route is just outta control ridicioulus.

Werd:rocks: I'd like to know too

I ran a flat file over it just to make sure it was good. Mine holds 21psi no problem.:D

I would get the intercooler bolted up. Then I would match up the pipes and then cut. I measered everything up first and then started cutting. I ended up cutting the licp on both sides as well because it was to long and it was also to long on the curve at was hitting against my oil filter housing.

Yahhh, but my luck I'd cut the side thats still 2 or 2.25" on the LICP and just cut a mere .5" and the coupler woudln't stay on it. Yes, I mocked it up today and it does hit the oil cooler housing so I'm going to take roughly an inch off of it. And you said that you only had to take an inch off of the J pipe coming off of the turbo? (both sides)

Damn things are coming along with mine, now I just gotta find a damned BOV recir. hose for my 2g....If anyone would like to donate and me cover the shipping or me purchase yours who have the GM MAF/T I would HIGHLY appreciate it :sneaky:

This is my only complaint about this kit... I have BOV flutter now because of the way the recirc tube lines up. The bottom part pinches down to a small opening. I'm also getting some surge because of this.

If anyone can think of or know of a fix... please let me know.

I'd be iffy to since I send my payment 2 weeks ago via paypal and still nothing. Hopefully it will come soon only time will tell.

I had a similar problem with them taking forever.Try emailing them at there other emails as well.I cant remember them all but look on there website, and try the one they use for the group buy and also try the paypal address. They eventually emailed me back.I also found out when i got it,i could have tracked mine using my zip code in the reference track.

Did you guys confirm with ssauto before ordering?

I was under the impression that the sale was done on an individual approval basis.

They will send you FedEx confirm #'s when your goods are sent out.

Yes I waited for a reply that the deal was still going, but once I paid i never got any confirmations or nothin. It just showed up at my door 5days later.

Yea its been discussed before that they are iffy when it comes to emails. Sometimes they respond really fast, and sometimes it takes forever. One thing though is they get the product to you quickly once it has been paid for.

Try sending them a msg, through the EBAY form. That might be better, instead of the emails listed on their website.
