I have always had launch control (2 step) in my car's, i have gotten very use to it.
How are you guys launching the automatics?
i research some options AEM EMS/ DSMCHIPS
how well does this work with large turbo's (t67)I have search and all i can come up with is break boosting.

need input

leaning towards the dsmchip.
anyone running this?

Don't know about automatics.

DSMLink has the same 2 step stutterbox that the Keydiver chip from DSMChips.com has. DSMLink gives you the ability to change things on the fly, Keydiver will require programming to make changes (which is about $25 to make changes, last time I looked).

I and most other members on this site with recommend DSMLink. www.dsmlink.com

You can use a 2-step but doesnt work well with the stall converter.. The Best way is brake boost and use nitrous at the same time.. Reason if you dont use nitrous and a big turbo you will create alot of heat and burn up the stall/ clutch's I have the nitrous to come on after 3000rpm and shut off once the aem see's 20psi if anyone has a better safer idea feel free to add!!

Okay so Paul was nice enough to set up my box with the 2step launch control feature.

So now what do I do next? WTF

In terms of setting it up on megatune, and what else do I have to wire up outside of the box?

I wrote this when he asked me on 2GNT:

Uhh... I included a wiring schematic for the launch control with your unit. I don't have a copy on hand, but I believe it's a switched ground. All you have to do is connect the right wire from the wiring harness to a switch, and connect the other end of the switch to chassis ground.

Launch control is thus controlled by the switch (not by vehicle speed), but you can specify RPM setpoints in Megatune.

The only way to launch a automatic with a larger frame turbo is to use a high stall torque converter and a small shot of nitrous to help build boost. Wire in the nitrous so it turns on as soon as you let off of the brake, this can be done with the brake switch that turns on the lights. Then have it turn off slightly lower then your max boost or at a certain rpm. 2 steps from what I have seen do not help to launch as they dont give you any torque and you need torque to stall up the converter.

Antilag does nothing but hurt the spoolup on an auto from what I've experienced. My two step was awesome with me evo3 and stock tranny. I could build 22-23psi at the line @3000-3200rpms. I was able to cut 1.7 60' with those and I was happy with that.

So, you don't use nitrous to spoolup a car when you're brake boosting and shut it off before the launch, but you turn the nitrous to come on as soon as you stop brake boosting, correct? Why is this? To me, wouldn't you get a better 60' from having the nitrous on before you let go of the brake so the nitrous is there, and rpm's are up, and the boost is there (as long as you can keep your car in one spot, that is.)

Your way is the way I prefer to do it too. I dunno Scott's reasoning for doing it his way, though he has had good luck with it, seems like backfire city to me though.

So do you have the nitrous shut off when the desired rpm and boost level is reached and just launch from there? (if you don't want to run it all the way down the track too.) or do you keep it on and hope it doesnt pull through the brakes?

Either spray it to get the RPMs up and shut the boost off when it reaches a set boost, and launch on boost without nitrous, or do like scott and launch at low RPM and spray it as the tires start rolling, shutting it off at specified boost, or just leaving it on if you want.

I have yet to try nitrous while sitting on the line brake boosting. My car is setup to spray as soon as I let off of the brake and launch.

Is there any way to tell my pcm to stall till 3grand then launch, or do i have to use a stall converter? Cause I could get nitrous and brake boost and have boost to launch, but I'm trying to do it without nitrous at the moment. Also I am not putting nitrous into my engine, just turbo!I'm trying to figure out a way I can actually launch without spending too much. I'm in college right now and I won't build my DSM till I graduate and go back to work.
