I have decided on Kelford 272s on my 6bolt 2.3L for my weekend warrior.

My question is should I run a 64lb/min turbo or a 79lb/min turbo?

Both turbos are 1.05AR twin-scroll.

I plan to run anywhere from 30-40 psi on pump and rev up to 8k or 9k MAX on an automatic.

Is the kelford 272 in the efficiency range for these turbos? I think im going to go research how to read these compressor maps, LOL.

The tc makes it a little easier to leave a light as apposed to a 5 speed. I had a 292 in my old mustang and I had to rev to like 2500 just to leave a light LOL.

30-40 psi on pump gas you say?

Maybe 30-32 at most on plain old pump gas but you are going to need some meth injection for more than that.

Personally I think you are smoking crack and need to come back down too earth and smell the roses.

hahaha meth isn't necessarily out of the question. this is why I said 30- 40 psi. 30 before meth, maybe 40 after. please dont flame me I thought I was asking a legit question

im sorry for the confusion when i said pump gas i meant that e85 isnt available around here. so meth + 93 eventually.

I think I can deal with it if it sounds like this:
Kelford 280 - YouTube

but not like this:
Girl in the Black Car's Talon idle with Kelford 280 cams - YouTube

are you guys saying that the first video has cam gears dialed in properly and the second video doesn't?

"Automatic helps with big cams at idle while street driving."

Why is this so?

The converter keeps a load on the motor when coming to a stop etc. it depends on the engine management and tune also. But stick cars (light clutches big cams) have a hard time going from 2k on to idle and catching themselves.

it just seems like the tx280s are meant to run to like 10k rpm.... I only want to go to like 8500 or 9000 and thats when I am pushing it to its limits, which is something I don't really even want to do all the time. I build the drivetrain to be able to run that high so I have a safety net, not so I can try to break it. So figure I only rev to 7500 to 8000 most of the time on the street which is still kind of high considering thats above stock redline.

In this case, which would I be better off with ?
1. 64lbs/min + tx272s
2. 79lbs/min + tx272s
3. 79lbs/min + tx280s

You are really not going to know until you get on a dyno. Getting th cams degreed in them changing them on the dyno will move the power around and make/loose power in different spots.

It's very easy to over think building a new killer motor(I just went through it) but said and done keep it simple get it running and you will be happy.

wait a second here... Ive been reading all day and everyone keeps saying that the 2.3L stroker engines benefit from high lift cams.

How come nobody has mentioned the TX276HL?!?

They are 276/272 with even more lift then the 280s?

TX276HL + 79lbs/min for the win?

idk i see alot of people have the gt35r and even a gt37r with the kelford 272s. I think i am going to give those a shot on the 79lbs/min and see how it goes...

well they say kelfords run one size larger... so that means kelford 280s are like hks288.. but then the 2.3 makes them run one size smaller... so that would make it similar hks 280 on a 2.0

so kelford 280s on a 2.3 are similar to hks 280s on a 2.0 in a certain aspect? it just sounds like its wrong LOL
