I was wondering what reasonable hp goals I could have with stock internals, and the best turbo with which to acheive that. Anything larger than a 14b I would replace the headgasket, & of coarse injectors, fuel pump, pressure regulator, & probably an afc. Is there anything else major that I overlooked?
 
I think the real question is "how much boost can I run and what HP can be had on the stock internals of a 7 bolt." and of course it all depends on the amount of supporting modifications done yadda yadda; I didn't really answer the question but it gets asked all the time and was already answered in this post. If you want a dyno number run x amount of boost on a super lag turbo.

I've seen a 7-bolt stock bottom end make 551whp on a 60-1 full t-4?? I dont think a 20G have has made over 500whp??

I would aim for some reasonable goals. 350ish. Build the upper end, and put a nice evoiii turbo on it.

I'm actually curious to know how you did this. Did you throw on a boos controller, dial up the boost and run it like that hard? Block off the exhaust ( :D )?I've never heard of this happening and didn't think it was possible.

I dont think you need to replace the headgasket.
 
I'm sure the headgasket would be the first thing to go, I'm actually suprised I haven't blown it yet with the 14b.
