can my 2g 1996 gs-t handle a 20g turbo on stock internals? or can it handle a 16g turbo on stock internals? or am i going to have to build it up?:dsm:

It all depends on what you have done to your car now. Do you have any mods?
Yes stock internals can handle a 20g but thats if you have all the supporting mods.
Just so you know you can do a search and find out most of the info you will ever need. Search first then ask questions .

yes it will handle a 20g as long as you don't run to much boost pressure and you have everything set up right. a guy i know has a 2g with a 20g and all the supporting mods and he runs on stock internals.

Steve93Talon put down 457 on a stock motor with stock headbolts. It's all about the supporting mods.

i am going for 300 horsepower. i plan on buying a fmic this summer. also my friend has a wrx and he got a cord the connects to a laptop to the car to tune ecu and i am wondering if there is anything like that for dsm's:dsm:

man at the top of these forums there is a feature that says search you could read for years read and read thats all i can say do your homework before you buy a turbo you can get something else instead of that turbo spend half the money on a 16 g and get some injectors and something to tune with just do your homework..,

not nessacarily, i think what he is trying to say is that you are trying to go from a stock car, to a speed demon, when you dont have a clue where to start. myself, i learned the hard way too. i also wanted to just bolt a bigger turbo on, and expect some huge perfomance. instead what i wound up with was a 1999 gsx with 55,000 miles on it, with a blown up 60-1 garrett turbo, blown rod through the block, and a loss of more than 8,000 when i was so frustrated and sold the car

what should i get for engine tuning? can you recomend something?

if going for around 350-400whp, i beleive that 255 walbro fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator,650cc injectors boost guage , boost controller, safc, less resrictive exaust, and i am sure im missing plenty, like fmic.......

what i should recomend is like everyone told me for so lng.......................READ,READ ,READ
if you use the search engine, you will find tons of write-ups on these subjects that guys on here that are way more knowledgable than me, have put their thoughts and experinces in these threads

If your goal REALLY is 300 HP I suggest going with a EVOIII big 16G for the fact that you can run a walbro 190LPH and not need a FPR. You can run quite a bit on stock internals as long as you have a REALLY good tune and keep up on maintainance.

Edit- connector cord with palm pilot using MMCD tunning with a safc. This will be(IMO) the cheapest way to tune and pretty fricken easy.

300HP-EVOIII big 16G, 660cc injectors, walbro 190LPH, safc, boost guage, palm pilot, wideband(it's nice to have but not necessary), 2.5 or 3 inch exhuast - Tune to perfection.
with that you should be in the range of 300+/-.

~wait screw everything I said 100 shot O NAWZ!!!!!! instant 300HP~ <---if you believe that buy a honda

16g or 14b is all you need to make 300HP. Id say it would be perty darn hard to blow this motor up on 300HP even on a bad tune. Pick the smallest turbo to achieve the goal. Bigger turbo doesn't always mean better on a daily driver. for 300 HP the only thing 20G bigger turbo will do for you is lag more and loose the fun factor around town, and give you a little cooler intake temp. which is good but a 16g on a decent FMIC and 550's will be a better and cheaper setup for 300HP. td06 20g's sweet spot is around 25PSI so if you can't run that, forget about the turbo and go 16g.

Here is a list of my mods on a 1g awd:

2g mas
front mount
extrude honed intake
unorthodox racing pullies
upgraded plugs and wires
ported 2g exhaust manifold
ported evoIII big 16g
2.5 O2 housing
full 3inch exhaust- no cat
720 denso injectors
apex super afc
apex avc-r
other misc stuff
and some weight loss

I have pretty of run with this setup and it is very reliable with a stock engine. i have thought about a bigger turbo but i don't want to screw anything up at this point. The car will be plenty fast with a 16g and the right supporting mods and the right tuning.

Does your unorthodox crank pulley have a harmonic damper. If it doesn't you need to put a stocker back on or look into the fluidampr or ati. If not your going to end up messing up your engine, before you ever get around to running a larger turbo setup.
