I was wondering what the reprecussions are going to be if i put aftermarket cam gears on a mostly stock engine(bolt on mods, nothing aftermarket inernally). I have the cams coming on the way but i would like to what can happen if anything, when i put the cams on, and also how should i set them up as far as tuning on a not internally modified 4g63t??

Just leave it alone and you will be alright. It will be a bit better idea if you get camshaft with those gears.

The previous owner of my car installed cam gears on stock cams. I've played around with them to help reduce some valve overlap. Seat of the pants driving seemed like it changed a little. however I since zero'd them out. Just wait to put them on your cams coming. Noway worth the effort with stock cams.

EDIT: heres some good reading. It from another forum so dont get mad. haha http://www.team-integra.net/forum/d...10&TopicID=27552&PageMsg=Viewing+Common+Topic

Now most of that is on N/a motors but it helps understand what is going on when you adjust the gears.
Do some more searching about what turbo motors like.

Won't really gain you much power at all... more of a looks thing than anything else. Likely less than two percent difference in power (so maybe 8hp, tops, if you're already putting out 400). They really aren't worth the cost.

there are a lot of people who know what they are doing and would disagree with you. They aren't using them to gain power, more to decrease spool.

Mind linking to a thread on the subject? From what I've seen, it's the longer duration exhaust cam that helps with the spool (among other things); the adjustable cam gears are for fine-tuning, to help reduce at least some of the lumpiness of the upgraded cams. The vast majority simply buy them for the looks, and have no idea what they're doing, or what they're actually for.
