I recently bought Fidanza adjustable cam gears. i was wonding if you can make any more power by adjusting the stock cams on a GSX? I plan to buy cams in the near future, but until then, i was wonding if it would be worth adjusting the stock cams? if so, what should i adjust them to? any imput is greatly appreciated.

it is possable but i would put it on the dyno and tune it on that to get them adjusted correctly. depending on supporting mods.

my mods as of right now are :
7 bolt block
1st gen rods
stock 2g pistons
ferrea valves
Greddy 24R fmic
AEM fuel rail
AEM fpr
Nology Wires
RC 550cc injectors
Walbro 255 FP
1g throttle body
head is ported/polished
ported exhaust manifold
ported 2g intake manifold
Fidanza cam gears (not yet installed)
SAFC-II
T-25 ported
Greddy boost control

thats about all i can remember for the motor part. i know im forgetting alot of things. would i make anymore power if i changed the degree of the stock cams with these mods? about how much of a gain would i get if any?

You can make a little more power, but it's really just a waist of time. Most DSM cams are out of spec by now and if your going to take the time to change the cam gears then you should take the cams out and change them while you're in there. The only extra work is removing the cam caps at that point.

Don't let anyone tell you that you can change the cam gears without removing the valve cover. Never use an impact to install or remove the cam gear bolt since you could accidentally turn the cam and open a valve into a piston.

There are many other mods that pull out better horsepower, so don't waist your time on just gears. Do the cams at the same time and then have it tuned on a dyno. With street tuning you can't see what is actually making power with your setup, you could only guess. :dsm:
