Lambo vertical Doors [Merged 8-7]

I found the plans online for a 3 hinge set up that uses the hinge and strut .. i may try and fabricate the hinge assembly and see if i cant make it work on my parts car first..

Luke :dsm:

I think they look nice but they have to be a huge pain the ass for a daily driver. It actually looks hard to get out. They only way i say they look good for a daily is if they opened up a full 90 degrees and the ones on ebay dont really look like they do.Also check the brand of shocks they use for the doors too.

i know this kid who designs lambo doors, he is working on the 2g eclipse right now (his wife has a 98 gst).....but he has his for his 3000gt and designs them for a company that sells them, well long story short, theres a little switch that allows u to open it noramlly out and in, and u can lift it up and "lock" it w/ the little switch.

Ok check this ok....

(who would of guessed it eh?)

$49.99 for thhis kit? What do ya think? It seems kinda vague on describing the install procedures, i figure on proably having to weld these on or maybe drill some. Says 18hrs or so to install the whole kit also.... OMG
Sounds almost to good to be true, but then again thats a HUGE price difference so i may go with them...

And, my car is 100% non-rice....I just want to add some flare and something a bit different, they do look cool and different at that. Thanks for any comments anyways though, good bad or otherwise.

I dont know about that one bro...you might want to ask around a bit more and research this lambodoors.com site a little more. 50 bones compared to 1500...thats a little too good to be true. If you do however decide to go with it, It would be cool if you posted a write up on your experience with it...

Quite frankly there are better mods out there to spend $1000+ on. Yes they look damn good on our cars, but they don't look good enough to warrant the ridicilous price.

i created a post as sort of a FAQ/ writeup with pictures a few months back... on a different DSM website, and got flamed hardcore for it. apparently its not cool unless its got to do with a 1G so i got banned from the site.

Installation is a huge bi***... mostly becuase i shaved my fenders which means the hinge needs to be fitted behind the fender, and the door needs to be bolted on in the upright position... check this thread for tons of info / pics...

Sure its a pain in the ass, but it catches alot of attention.

I paid $1300 for my kit or somewhere around there... ebay is probably the cheapest place to get them.

PM me for pictures / detailed info

Ive deciieded to go ahead with this project on my 2g and we will see how it turns out i suppose, ill post a write up as soon as i get everything organized for everyone who is interested.

yea $50 is tooooooo god to be true, I think they'll sell you instructions on how to do it, fabricating the parts, having it installed is another thing.

hey 4g63 gst, you got a link for those plans?

Installing these kits can suck. I did one on a civic, and it wasnt fun. They are very high maintence too. You have to constantly adjust the stopper to keep the door from sagging. If it sags, then you're rubbing paint off your door and door jamb. Like I said, high maintence, but it does look bad-ass when you're done. Def. get you some points at a show. Good luck with the install..... Keep us posted. :thumb:

I posted a write-up / FAQ on another DSM site... somebody got upset that it wasn't a 1g write up, or a fixing-rust FAQ, so i got banned... oh well. No big loss. However If i could access it, i would copy it all and paste it here, it was pretty in depth...

is this website called, DsMTALK?

bastards..

ANYWAYS Good luck with a cheap kit, Do you know how much our doors weigh? Can you fabricate hanges Strong enough to hold up the abuse of it?
Will you have bandaids when your "fabricated" shocks go out from the heavy weight and crack someone skull?

good luck with spending little money. The kits will Sag and get out of alignment and you arent able to shut your door easily. Yea its cool when you show up, pop your doors, then as you leave your sitting for a few minutes trying to shut it.

and its not just a switch, you actually have to pop a pin and swap it over to convery to open normally if you have that option with your kit.

Eventually ill spend the money to have it done right.

Yes having a variable motion kit, without the hassle of removing pins, sounds a little on the complicated side. Since i cut down my inner fenders quite a bit (actually to the point of almost knife edging the fender surface), i can swing my door open about 1/3 of the way which is far enough for most thinner people to slip out without swinging the door up. nice if you are in a hurry or a female companion doesn't have the stregnth to lift the door. they are a little heavy and combersome from my test fittings, i haven't driven the car on the street so i am not positive on how it will work out just yet.

During the socal Hooters meet yesterday there was a car with Lambo doors on just the drivers side. The kit he used seemed simple enough really, just about a straight bolt up kit and it opened vertically and 90 degrees, but it did have the pins that needed to be pulled to close it. Still, looked sweet though (until i cracked my head on the door when i got up from examining the hinges... :shhh: )

Hi guys.
I found a shop that willing to do a group buy on vertical door kit.

No spam, group buy posts, vendor advertising, website advertising, or self promotion of any kind in the forums.

Anyone interested -both of you- can PM this.

how many people need to join in before you get the discount in the first place. 900 is still a TON for a door to open differently

you know your paying 900-1200 doors for nothing more then a few bolts and a bracket right? LOL must be made of gold or somtin, if you can find the specs u can make it urself and save a grand and spend it on somtin more worth while

Ya but who has the specs?

900 is a pretty good deal, but it's still alot of money. If I had it laying around I would personally buy a FMIC kit instead.

Quick review of the kit: This is the older version of the Vertical Doors kit (Verticaldoors.com) which was installed by a local shop. The kit itself works great, the doors open and close pretty smoothly, but there are some aspects that I'm less than thrilled about. For instance, holes have to be cut in the plastic fender wells to clear the diagonal shocks. Supposedly, this issue is fixed in the newer hinge models, but alas I must find some way of covering up the holes before the rain season. Total cost was $1400. YES, I know that could have bought me a turbo upgrade! Please don't remind me :| Overall, I'm happy with the results. The doors get compliments from grade schoolers to middle-age Corvette owners.

Finally, there's plenty of clearance when the doors are up, so no, it's not hard to get in  Here they are..
