knock sensor problems

My car is throwing code 31. I replaced the knock sensor and still get it after a couple minutes of idling. I tested the white wire for resistance resistance is pretty high. I can't even get a reading unless I'm on 200k ohms or higher. Where does the black wire with the white tracer go to? Using my logger I get either 0 or 9 counts of knock. Sometimes it will throw in a random 3 counts but that's it. Any ideas?

The ECU is not seeing the knock sensor 9 counts is just what the ECU throws as a default I think.Check your wiring again. Maybe the new knock sensor is bad check its resistance.

Well I checked resistance from the ecu to the clip and it was pretty high. Do you think its just the white wire having high resistance that is the problem? Where does the black wire with the white tracer run to anyone know? I can't even get a resistance reading without it on at least 200k.

With the ign. on 1 wire you should see 8-11 vdc. The other wire is the ground circuit. Not sure what the wire color is what.

Alright I'll give that a try. Can I ground the wire in the engine bay incase the ground is bad?

Not sure. I think it needs to run back thru the ECU. I will see if I can find the wiring diagram on it.
