I have a 92 laser rs awd and it was running prime up until i installed some delta hks 272 cams. It gets like over 600 counts of knock as soon as it starts seeing boost. The car has a s16g, 550cc injectors, 255, 2g mas, and a safc. I understand i need a fmic asap but is that the cause of the knock? and I had both throttle points zeroed out on the safc before how should i adjust it? I know i need to add some fuel but how much? Thanks for the help.

You really need a wideband and logger if you don't have them to create a good tune.

How much boost were you trying to run when you encounter this knock?

The stock 1g timing map is very aggressive and may be where you're knock is coming from after adding the cams and added airflow. Without a wideband, you really have no way of knowing the true a/fs as well. I'm sure the stock smic isn't helping any either.

For the meantime, you can try lowering your CAS/timing by 2-3* to see if that helps any. I would recommend a real way to edit the whole timing map(chip, link, etc)

I have an AEM wideband and i was trying to run only 13 or 14 pounds but it would knock as soon as it would start to boost. also my exhaust temp would go way up to over 900* under any boost. I will try lowering the CAS by a few degrees and see where that gets me.

Since the temp is getting so hot I'm going to say it is a lean mixture!!! How lean is the ? Apparently it is bad especially to be getting that much knock. Like stated above you really need a WB to look at afrs and a good way to access the full timing table. I would try to add some fuel until the EGT temps drop back down to decent levels. This could solve you problem but a wide band would allow you to fine tune those cams and get the most out of the setup along with some software to tune with.
