Kansai Service 4G63 intake manifold

The throttle body is facing the wrong way, looks like a NA intake manifold. Also $2100 for an intake manifold is just stupid, JMF and others do it for much cheaper and have better quality I am sure.

There was another thread on this one a while back, but I'm too lazy to look. Cliffnotes are yes, it is very expensive, but it does work very well. The question is does it work $1500 better than what DSMers normally run.

They have a version that is meant for the Evo I-III. And unless I am mistaken will bolt up to a DSM 6 bolt 4G63 no problem. I know the III's intake manifold will anyway so I assume an aftermarket upgrade for it would. The one in the picture though, yes is facing the wrong way.

I was just curious if anyone has used it, or had a dyno map with it comparing it to others. If I was rich, I would buy one just to try it out but, I am not.

I was corrected about this before. HKS and Kansai Service are not the same. HKS certifies service shops in Japan to work with HKS parts. Sort of like having a Porsche-certified shop and/or technician. This is an HKS-certified shop. Kansai Service is the shop name, but it can be speculated that HKS did play a part in the development of this intake manifold. After all, HKS does need a manifold to run on their super fast time attack Evo.

The HKS/Kansai intake manifold is one of the best that you can purchase for the EVO's.

I've never seen any results from this manifold, probably because of the fact that it costs about a 1/3rd of most DSM's, but I'm sure it'd put out great results considering the manufacturer.

The real question is weather or not the few extra HP you'll get with this intake manifold is worth the extra cost.

Someone did an intake manifold comaparison on the dyno. I cant remember who, I believe it was Buschur. The kansai service manifold was on top of them all.

A buddy of mine has one for his Evo, has yet to put it in, but it's stupid dope . The casting is rediculously clean and inside the plenium the velosity stacks are cast in. Besides the price the other down side is you have to run a funky throttle body.

I don't think they make them for the dsms' just evos. And if i remember correctly Big Al ran one of these on his evo.

Strangely enough, if you check that site, it says this manifold will fit both the Evo and the DSM. Not sure that's accurate, but that's what the site linked above says.

Woops, just reread the listing.

That manifold definitely doesn't look like it'll bolt up to a DSM easily considering it would have to be mounted upside down to get the right piping configuration & that's assuming the bolt pattern for the intake is the same in that config.

The one pictured is for the newer evos. The one theyre talking about in the link is for evo 1-3's which have the same head as 2g dsm's.

I think the reason is costs so much is the R&D of it being CAST.
I would buy one if I had 2100 to piss away.

Magnus has a new cast manifold for the Evo 8/9 that costs half that. I'm sure they put plenty of testing time into it too. It just depends on how much profit you want to make and how many you want to sell. Try and tell me any aftermarket sold for the E46 M3 can be justified when it comes to pricing. You price it at what you can get away with. It doesn't really have so much to do with how much it costs to produce as it does what the market will support. The DSM market simply can't support high dollar parts. The Evo market can.

This is part of the reason why a single header for an M3 will cost $2-3k and a set of headers for a Camaro will cost $800.
