i just recently replaced everything inside the engine and 500 miles later im already experiencing signs of crankwalk. is this usual for a freshly rebuilt motor?? so far i can her a noise from the timing belt area when the clutch is pressed and the clutch get sloppy sometimes during left hand turns. i knew i shoulda just got a 6 bolt the first time :banghead:

sorry about your ride but you should have dropped the 2G block and got a 1G block before you did the build it would have saved you the headache later

yeah and the money. which really sucks. i really should just get rid of it alltogether. its just a money pit..

Nah, it's worth sticking with it, just do up a nicely built 6 bolt and your ass will thank you later when you're on the gas pedal. :thumb:

If you got crankwalk within 500 miles of rebuilding your motor, YOU did something wrong. You can't blame crankwalk in 500 miles on "poor 7-bolt design". Are you sure you got all the bearings right? Have you actually measured to see if you have crankwalk?

yeah im sure all the bearings were right. didnt measure it yet but it has all the symthoms of it, so idk what else it could be. but i will measure the crank for play before i even start lookin for a six bolt.

A guy I knew crankwalked a 6-bolt in less than 500 miles because he didn't align the thrust bearing properly when he was installing the crank.

Again, you can't blame a newly-rebuilt engine's failure on the engine's design. Something went wrong during assembly.
