rebuilt motor now wont run good

ok so i had my head redone because the car was smoking like crazy. while it was off the piston rings were changed. so pretty much the whole motors been rebuilt and now at idle it goes up and down up and down and when i put it in gear it almost wants to die. my uncle has his own shop and he's the one who did everything besides the head. he just has no time to fine tune it right now and i'm sick of waiting to drive my baby. anyone have any idea what is wrong with it.

sounds like a Vacuume leak, go back and check all the connections
