I'm looking at a 91 TSi FWD. Guy claims to have rebuilt the motor w/ .20 over bore and after 50 miles it started to knock so he tore it back down. He is now trying to sell it, He's already lied to me about the turbo claimed Frankenstien but its looks to be a stock 14B WTF .
Guy said he liked burnout's so I've really looked over drivetrain. It does have a rebuilt and ported heads.
So my ? is what would cause it to knock?

How bad was the knock, most likely it was rod knock and a poor build. Or he is dumb and its lifter tick. If he said it had a frankenstien and it doesnt then I would run away. Thats a crazy drag turbo if im correct. Also he loves burnouts, that tells you right there the drivetrain has been abused. I also would not trust the ported head that was most likely ghetto done, without a flow bench and can hurt performance. Run away run away.

I don't know for the price I feel I need to buy it $200.
I didn't hear the burnout thing first hand.( I haven't even got to talk to the guy yet, I went out and looked at the car personally through)
The car is completely torn down w/ the head off the car.
I think It's a timing belt victim as the heat shield under hood is all torn to crap on the Timing Belt side.
I think I can even get him to come down in price because of the lie about the turbo.
