Trenton,
Finally got a TSI AWD for 4000 canadian from a dealer, 106 thousand km, seems to be mint running conidtion and its definatly mint condition, anyways I have an extra 2250 dollars ( 1900 american about? ) to spend on it and this will be the most money I'll have for a long time , so should I upgrade turbo right off the start, then keep adding little upgrades as i get money cause I dont think I'll be able to save 600+ bucks for a turbo cause I pay insurance and school and gas and its really hard to save money LOL..

I was thinking , custom 3" exhaust, intake, boost gauge, boost controller, EVO III Big 16G Turbo and maybe a FMIC and misc parts (any other ideas?)

Then like I said after I get 200 bucks here, 300 bucks there, I can start adding to the setup but is it ok to slap that turbo on a nearly stock TSI or will I even get any boost of it cause the mods arent substansial?

Anyways im gonna place an order tommorow when i visit a local shop so any input will be greatly appreciated, Ill get pics up ASAP

Anyways Thanks alot

Andrew

how many miles is 106 thousand km? anyhoo, the first thing I would do is maintenance. I know you said it's in mint condition, but I would go over the car and make sure everythings good before you start modding

66 thousand miles,

They serviced it all at the dealer but ya i guess i should give everything a check again.

I agree...Id do a timing belt and water pump change first. Then I would suggest doing some research. There are quite a few proposed upgrade paths for DSMs. I would do the free mods first and get yourself a good exhaust. Then go from there....

Check out the vehicle profiles of some of the other members here as well to see what they've done, and don't be afraid to ask them about their modifications.

You definitely want to check the FAQs and the upgrade guide provided by Tuners. The worst thing you could do is just slap a big turbo on there without doing the supporting mods. It will pretty much be useless. Make sure you do the maintenance, I don't care if it feels like mint condition or not, you gotta replace that stuff because youd on't know the last time it was replaced. How much would it suck to invest your cash into your upgrades, just to have your timing belt snap and be screwed??? There's plenty of resources available on Tuners, look around.

Unless you have paperwork showing that the t-belt and water pump were done less than 40k kms ago start there.... and use OEM parts. A Mitsu dealer will be much cheaper than Chryster.

If you have this done at a shop it will eat half of your money.

Once you have all the maintenance done, step back and do lots of research(It won't hurt to do some research on maint. items right now). Avoid impulse buying at all costs. Don't forget you will have to meet E-testing also.

Start your mods research here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/1gturbo/stage1power.php If you go 3" exhaust put in that high flow cat or you will have hella boost creep.

Don't bow to pressure to start modding, just drive and enjoy your car.
