I won’t. You can call it what you like, but the unofficial definition of short route pipeing for the DSM community is for SHORT LENGHT PIPES used with those type inte4rcoolers yes. Ask and DSM vet what his idea for short route piping is and see what he comes up with.

Let it go man, no one cares. Let people call their piping whatever they want, they are not selling it to you.

I have a johnny racecar intercooler for my neon, its pretty nice, good quality construction and the outlet pipe is always cold to the touch

Sorry if I'm late about this question but I'm usin a 200mhz shitty HP and after reading the first 14 pages of this thread, I skipped to the last to see and then posted this...

Have any of you guys posted up any numbers for this FMIC yet? I have a 95 GST and I will order this FMIC as soon as my christmas money shows up in my bank account. Once I install it I will post several dsmlink logs and you guys can download the dsmlink client program (for free) and view the logs for yourselves :)

I'm still running the stock t25 so hopfully these logs will hope to be fruitful for many of you running 14b's and t25's. Even though a few of my friends mentioned this fmic will hurt my performance with my t25 instead of help it, but I prefer to just go ahead and get this fmic along with some injectors and a pump. I will install the fmic b4 all those and get the logs to you guys first though.

The answer, still, 22 pages later, is No.

Makes you wonder....

Ok cool, I'll be the first ;) Wish the guy would give me some kind of discount for giving out these dsmlink logs. I know they can give A LOT of data. but oh well. I emailed him a while ago asking if he needed more pics of one on an eclipse or wanted someone to sport it and tell everyone about it, but he flat out said no. So oh well I guess he really is not making much money off each individual IC sold. If his price doesnt rise above $205 before tuesday, then I'll be buyin it :)

Yeah at $200. for an FMIC and $20.being 10% what could he do for price really? I am one of the guys a bit skeptical about these IC's but most all feedback has been positive except for the lack of factual data from using one. Get some data for the guys!! Mark

I'm mostly worried about doing the piping. My first attempt at doing the UICP piping w/ metal bends from jc whitney was horrid.

First I got the bends then I had to cut them a certain way and I didnt have the tools to weld it so I got a performance shop in Jacksonville to do it. They ####ed it ALL up and welded the ####n bov flange all wrong, then they charged me 80$ for the bs and would not give me the pipes back, so I paid them then I got another shop here that said I wouldnt have to pay them if they fuct them up to do it. They got it done, but they ####ed it up too, welded the bov on the wrong part and didnt cut it right so that the silicone coupling I bought from them is cutting into the pass. side hole where the smic is.

I think this time I will be doing a more thurough job than I did with those. I prefer to do FWD98GST's 'short route' design and I want to make sure I have these bends correct for ordering.

For the TB-to-pass. side ic
--------------------------------
2 45deg bends (from tb to 90deg)
1 90deg bend (from 45deg to ic)

I think he didnt use a 90deg in that area, but the 90deg seems like it would look and be better?

For the driver side ic to the turbo
----------------------------------------
2 90deg bends (from ic to around the radiator)
1 Straight pipe (from 90deg to under the cross member/motor mount)
2 90deg bends (from straight pipe to turbo)

I hope he will correct me on this or tell me if I am correct.

I want to do this all at the same size as the TB which I believe is 2.25? Correct me on that too someone please. I dont want to go from 2.25 to 2.5 to 2.25 and all that crap, if it is possible.

my boy has one on his tsi and he has a greddy td06 aka 20g no disrespect to greddy or nothing but we simply have the best car manufactured, if you open up the greddy turbo you see mitsu symbols all over it...

back to my boy he is satisfied with it when he hits the track i will let you guys know what he does.

Got my FMIC ordered ($195)
Got my RRE Piping ordered ($324) Damn shipping prices..

Now I just have to wait for that stuff to come in.

Here are some 1g install pics.

Oil filter housing, theres a bend in the pipe that you cant really see to go around the housing a little bit. I cut just the bend out of a 45 degree pipe and welded it in right where it would come in contact with the housing.

All pipes are welded in most spots and powder coated with a Silver Hybrid. Thats the beauty of having all those things available to you at work. Cant beat free stuff I believe its the same color Dejon Tool Uses. :thumb:

Is there anyway you could get a pic of that bend that you can't really see going around that oil filter housing? Maybe a pic from underneath the car, or a top view from under the hood? That is the only part of the piping that I am worried about.

I can, it will be a couple of days though. My car is stored about 25 miles from here and with work and the kid theres only a couple days a week I can work on it.

What I did was bought a 45 degree bend from JC Whitney. $11 or so. Cut the straight parts off the pipe so just the bend was left then welded that into the pipe right where it would come in contact with the housing. It will work without the bend or you can just dent your pipe a little right there.OR if you dont mind a LITTLE pipe distortion, heat it up red hot and bend it yourself. Heating it up and bending it worked better than I thought it would on my J Pipe. I will take a pic of my homemade J Pipe and the small bend where it hits the housing I will just have to pull it away from the housing a bit to get the pic.

I had to make my J Pipe a little different because of the HKS Wastegate's dump tube. Couple days I will have one for you. :thumb:

Ya I really don't wanna just dent in the pipe. I'd like it to be as clean as possible. I might consider the heating up and bending. You just use some kinda torch or sumthin? I could also maybe just get a 45* silicon coupler to use maybe. Anyway, that picture would be a huge help. Thanx!!

Heat bending only as last resort really. It takes temper out of the
pipe. You get a torch (o2/accetylene) and turn it up.
Get the area you want the bend to be at red hot. It will
bend with ease. Leaves an ugly ripple in the pipe tho.
It is easier and quicker than having pipe rebent.
Find a good exh man who knows what he's doing
and have a new piece bent.Better than heat bending :thumb:

Ok,

I have the JRC core and my mods are in my profile if you need to see them. I have dsmlink and I did a 3rd gear pull tonight and here are some of my numbers. I am not sure what you guys are wanting to see so if you want to know something I didnt list just ask.

Unfortunately I cant post the actual log right now so these were my peak numbers.

Boost was set at 20psi
All fuel and timing was set at zero, so basically this is untuned;

Peak est. HP 272 at the wheels
Peak airflow 32.5 lb/min
Knock peaked at a whoping 0.7 for a very short time
Timing peaked at 16*
A/F ratio around 11:1

I hope this helps oh and I reached full boost in 5th gear around 3000 rpm's

98spydert said:
Wow that timing is pretty weak. Get that tuned or just spend some time tuning it yourself and you'll deffinetly see over 300whp. Thanks for the numbers!

Yeah the timing advance sux pretty bad but like I said this was just the base run before I start tuning when the weather gets a little nicer. We got lucky in Indiana today with a pretty day so I figured I would get a base log and some numbers for you guys :thumb:

Looks like a pretty good setup. 32.5 lb/min is pretty good at 16* timing and 20 psi. If you can get up around 18* you should pick up another 10 h.p. Cams are what I'd get next, they were worth 25 h.p. or 2.5 lb/min on my setup. A MAFT or VPC and removing the MAF was worth around 15-20 h.p on my car. I think if you ran your turbo around 24 psi you could get close to 40 lb/min. Every little thing adds up. Post your datalog, I'd like to take a look at it if you don't mind. Cheers.

Thanks,

And unfortunately my ethernet card on the laptop is bad and I dont have a floppy drive to transfer to my desktop. I will get it fixed soon, I hate not being able to use it

I was wandering Where you guys got the couplers and piping and how they are holding up. That red flexible one looks like it's from Slowboy. Also 98gst I was wonder how that worked out with the fog lights, no problems? I have the 8" core sitting in my room, I'm tyring to figure out what to do about piping and couplers. Hopefully I will have it mounted tuesday so I can figure that stuf out.
