Yes, I am not saying that they all are. Some injectors are rated at different fuel pressures so I guess I should have asked before I ordered them. I think it is wrong, and they should all be rated at the same fp.

Just buschurs version of them, that's not to say all 550s are acually rated at 505cc.

Just ordered mine last night, I think I will be one of the first one's to put one on a VR4. Will post pics. :D

Got mine installed yesterday looks nice... getting the piping all done tommorw. Anyone have any of the bolts it come with break? I had two of them break on me in the intercooler. Luckily a flat head was able to turn them out. I replaced all 3 bolts with some others i had laying around and didnt have any more problems after that.

Ha, that is funny, I had one of them snap right off yesterday. It came with four and I only used three so I just used the spare. They must be made of pot metal :thumbdown

yea one broke while trying to tighten it and the other it was just sitting in there holding the i/c up not cranked down and the thing just fell in half... I recommend changing out the bolts or be extra careful. They are very brittle and will break. Would suck to hit a bump and one of those things break on ya :/

Haha. One of my screws broke off inside also. I thought I was f_cked but I did the screwdriver thing, also. Those screws are weak.

Okay everyone on this board has had great reviews on this FMIC. Now, who's had the FMIC for at least 6 months or more? I've been doing research on other boards, and they say the WELDS BREAK within a 6 month period. Then you'd need to find a good TIG welder to get back on. WELL????

Can you post the links to the other boards discussing this intercooler?

This whole thread is only 3 months old and no one had one before it started. Now where did I leave that time machine thingy...

How many people had the welds break? Actually just post the link.

This was quoted from GalantVr4.org: "Sucks to be you.. unless you know a good welder! I know of two people here in utah that have gotten them, and the welds broke inside of 6 months. I would highly recommend getting them TIG'd (for reinforcement on existing welds) before installing!!"

The link keeps asking for peeps to register. So there it is. Actually from reading the forums, it was just this one person who quoted this statement.

Well I'll tell you guys if I ever have any problems. I've had mine on for over a month and I'm hitting 20psi every day with it (I can't keep my foot off of the pedel!! ) so only time will tell.

I thought they were TIG welded... I don't recall

edit: and BTW, tyrus said he'll look for better bolts but that size in a higher grade is hard to find. Don't use longer bolts though because you'll crank em down and crack the core. Just passing on info...

wow... i just sat here and went through all 18 pages... You know this thread would only be maybe 5 pages if people kept on topic?? ...well with that said...

WHERE ARE THE 1G'S????????

Im still hesitant about this intercooler.. i was reading and it was sounding so awsome for the money.. then i hear the welds are breaking??? but then it wasnt first hand experiance..

DO NOT let what some clown said about welds breaking talk you out of buying one

sireously, for the money you save, you can spend some extra buck and repair it IF something breaks it doesn't mean it will

Remember that the welds breaking came from a "this guys said that that guy said that two other guys who remain unnamed had their welds break" but if that is enough to convence you not to get one, we're not out anything :thumb:

Youre right... instead have the lack of dyno/track/airflow numbers should make you skeptical :p . Seriously... DOES ANYONE HAVE SOME REAL NUMBERS YET????

Thats what Im saying.

With all these goobers throwing these tube and fin junkers on their cars, I would expect at LEAST ONE of them to get on a dyno and shop us some dyno/logger results. I want to see some mad timing on pump gas, NOW.

The lack of numbers is what kept me away from this intercooler. Im hate it when people slap on a part and say their car is faster by "seat of the pants". I need actual numbers. This isnt the first thread that has built up a product that everyone goes out and buys without any knowledge of its ACTUAL performance. With all the people subscribed to this thread that have the intercooler installed, I would think that at least one person could post before and after track, dyno, or even DSMlink logs.

Because this thread has gone for three months without some numbers, I got impatient and bought a spearco a couple days ago. Hopefuly that will do the job...

Im not saying that this product is no good. Hell for the price its a great upgrade over the stock SMIC. But I think this thread is becoming redundant. Please post some numbers...

I passed on these eBay IC's due to the "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is" adage. What sperco did you go for? Perhaps time will show that these eBay IC's are worthy. mark

I have a 1g and have installed the Intercooler. I can tell you one thing, as far as I can see there is hardly any room for pipe install unless you want to do long route piping or have it hit the ground under the bumper cover.

Hopefully someone sees this that has a 1g and posts some pics for me of how they did the pipe install. I really dont want a bunch of funky bends but Im not sure of the alternatives. Especially with the HKS manifold mounted WG and the dump tube.

Here are a couple pics for the 1g guys.

This thread has become a johnny race car support group. all the major issues have already been disscused. the bashing and "lets see some numbers" is getting old. this intercooler cost $200. for $200 we are lucky to at least get the "tube/fin" design you call so crappy. i mean come on how much more do you want, and is fair for $200. even if it had a better design on the inside, for the price, that would cause even more red flags to go up. the fact that we all have this intercooler should tell you something. we dont have a lot of money. so we are more then likly not going to go and drop half the pirce of the intercooler to put it on the dyno. you dont need dyno or track numbers to have fun on the street. and i dont know where you are from, but here its winter. hence, the tracks are not open. so seriously, shut up.

Im not bashing anyone here... but there are some people on this forum who like to see how a product performs before spending $200 on it. I find it hard to believe that not one person who has this intercooler could at least post logs of timing or airflow. I think everyone would benefit... and isnt that the point of these discussion boards?
