He is selling directly from www.johnnyracecar.com now and the price is back to the original 195 shipped. Wow that is just insanely cheap. Any word on if those internal fins are impeading flow.

I am still pondering buying this one. Its just soooooo cheap!!!!

There's no actual numbers as far as flow and pressure drop if that's that's what you're asking, he hasn't had them tested. Spool up on my evo3 16G is only slightly slower with this IC, at the most a 500rpm difference.

I was really wondering about info from you guys the new owners of the intercooler. I will most likely buy one of these because even if I dont like it its only $200. I guess I cant really go wrong.

Later

I have been keeping up with this thread for awhile now and decided to purchase one. Gonna sell my Supra SMIC to gain back some of the money for this one, so in the end I should be spending about 100bucks total for the intercooler. :)

cool, good luck keep us posted if you get one

I saw someone on here that posted up about installing the FMIC with the short route piping but I can't find it. Anyway whoever you are, can you post up what bends you need? I'm thinking a 90 degree to maybe a 45degree to the TB?? Let me know. once I get all my stuff in I will take a complete install process for it for everyone else to look at.

So noone has any #'s on these, theyre just big and impress locals?
If you want numbers, feel free to pay for the testing or test them yourself and report back with some numbers for us;)

AGAIN, THESE HAVE NOT BEEN BENCH TESTED FOR CFM OR PRESSURE DROP for the 100th freakin time in this thread.

They've impressed the people in this thread who have purchased and installed them and that's all of the "proof" or "vouches" these have. If that ain't enough, by all means buy something else. :thumb:

God these intercoolers are like a girl's diamond for the fellow dsmrs. "It's big, reflects light, looks great installed, and is sure to impress all my friends." "Oh, it's poor quality, don't tell me, I don't want to know".

Seriously though, these are kind of important parts of a turbo setup, people shouldn't blindly be putting these on because they're cheap and others say they "notice a difference" (people say that after getting a intake pipe for their t25).

Do you see what I'm getting at? Sorry for questioning this vital part.

Look,

Let these guys have their discussion without pressing them about whether these things suck or not, they seem to like them. If you don't like the intercooler you don't have to buy it, simple as that. The theoretical drawbacks of these intercoolers have been discussed to death in 2 other threads. Cheers.

i've got to agree with Stapx3 with my turbo conquest the turbo was the centerpiece and the rest of the car was built around it. With DSM's the IC is the centerpiece. I am about to try a Spearco 221 after selling my dejon street as i have a 50 trim and hackng the bumper is the last resort.
Seems like a lot of guys who have have never bought an IC before are going with the eBay models. How about smeone switching from a known name to one of these? No offence intended, I'm learning too!

Mark,

The spearco's are great but there is one drawback. They are universally EXPENSIVE when purchased new. This doesn't matter to me, I'll take performance first any day. But to some dsmers low price is important. We all know there are better intercoolers out there. You can't convert a DSMer once he sees a low price on something :D

I've been reading over this post for a while, and I just have one question. Has anybody run it upwards of 20-25psi without getting knock? Obviously the upper range would have to be on race gas, but the highest boost ran I saw was 18psi. I ran that on a supra side mount with no knock. I'm in the market and you cant beat that price, I just want to make sure it will work for what I want.

P.S. running a b16g so I know the core is a perfect size, just want to make sure it can cool well enough at high boost! :thumb:

I have a few concerns about this intercooler.

1. It is only 2.75" thick
2. Nobody has published efficiencys or flow tests
3. Nobody has published ACTUAL before and after results (ie dyno, track)

Im in the market for a fmic, and as it stands Im going to be getting a spearco core. The only thing that would convince me otherwise if if somebody can answere #2 and 3... so can someone answere #2 and 3 yet.

Well in my opinion, he knows what they flow. He started a business making and selling them, he know what they flow. Maybe the fact that he has not made these numbers public should be a warning sign. I don’t know, I don’t have any money and I really needed an intercooler. This thing could flow phenomenal, or it could flow not very well. But bottom line ill bet my life it flows and cools twice as good as the stock one. If you don’t feel comfortable with it, don’t buy it. If you look at it close in person, I don’t really see why it wouldn’t flow well, but what do I really know. Ill let you know any difference in the car after its running. I think it’s a quality piece for cheap.

Through the same token, nobody has yet proven that they are poor quality. Or maybe you just feel bad because you paid a high price for yours and need to justify it as being a waste of money
