hey, I got a JDM engine I bought from sunrise auto the receipt says it fits 91-94 dsm's but before they said it fits all 1g's, so anyway I bought a 1990 TSI shell and the wiring harnesses are different, 91-94 doesn't match the car, 1990 doesn't match the engine. I need help deciding exactly what engine I have because obviosly sunrise auto doesn't know. 6 bolt or 7 bolt? it has a red valve cover and yellow top injectors coma with tranny, transfer case and turbo/all accessories with 30k miles. What type engine do I have? the oilpan does not indent like the 7 bolt but my friend says it still is a 7 bolt, I'm confused as hell, any answers?

F***!! I can't believe those guys sold me a 7 bolt when they said it was a 6 bolt that would fit 91-94 vehicles, god that really Pisses me off, what the heck am I gonna do now? no wonder why nothing plugged in correctly, Sunrise Auto in Quebec, Canada Sucks a**!!!

What model/Year does this engine/tranny/transfer case fit? (Yeah, ECI Multi Turbo), How much could I get out of it, It has about 30k Miles on it, I'm gonna call up sunrise and raise h***.

if it has a 6 bolt oil pan then it's a 6 bolt, check the tech articles i think they're a guide to help you install a later 6 bolt in a 90
Also, the 6/7 bolts have to do with the bolts holding down the flywheel, not the oilpan.

He meant that the 6-bolt and 7-bolt engines have different oil pans. This is the easiest way to find out what your engine is or if you can find out if it was built April 1992 or later it is a 7-bolt.

In my post I told you guys I checked the oil pan and it was NOT indented so I thought it was a 6 bolt, BUT the guy previously stated that it was a 7 bolt if It says ECI multi, which mine does it says ECI multi turbo, I have the numbers off of the transmission but I don't know who to call to find out, Even if I find out it is a 7 bolt how will I tell what year it will fit? could someone have changed the oilpan?

The intake manifold has nothing to do with it. If you are really this worried just pull the tranny off, that should take 10 minutes and you will have your answer. Or you could look at the oil pan and the VFAQ and it will also tell you.

You dug up a 2 year to talk shit and only be half way correct?

What he was getting at is that you can tell the difference between a 6 bolt and 7 bolt not just by the number of bolt that hold the flywheels on, but also by the oil pan shape. Not eveyone has the tranny off to count flywheel bolts.

He doesn know wtf he is talking about and you should too before bringing back old post.

i thought he meant number of bolts on the oil pan, my bad. i know the shape of the oil pan is different between the two motors, but both has the same number of bolts. trust me i've been working on these cars since 97 and i misread what he said.

Skinnypimp you just made yourself look like an idiot for the second time.

He is explaining that there are more ways to tell if it is a 6 or 7 bolt than just lookin at the flywheel. YES 6 or 7 refers to the number of bolts holding the flywheel to the crankshaft.

But what makes you retarded is not reading what anyone is saying. The oil pan is differant from a 6 bolt to a 7 bolt. While that does not have anything to do with our slang name for the style of engine it does give us an easy way to identify if.

Maybe you should listen to boostedinaz, he has been nothing but helpful to me since he has been a member of this forum. And all you have managed to do is make yourself look like a moron TWICE. :notgood:

*edit* my reason for posting this is because of skinnypimp making a comment of how dumb boostedinaz was even though he has 2000 posts, but skinnypimp has edited his post.

you know what's even funnier is the fact you own a turbo 420a.:thumb:

That is really messed up man. How would you feel if I came on here and made fun of you for having 1/2 the horse power of my talon?

I am greatful for the guys who may have a better/faster car that don't talk down on others. We are here to HELP eachother build better cars.

dude look i apologized for jumping the gun, how about we just leave it at that. i can brag about how my mirage will smoke your dsm, but that is not my job here. sorry that my comment was a little overboard, but i'm not going to kiss anyone's ass to get along. once again my bad for jumping the gun on dude's comment about the 6/7bolt thing and talking about 420a guys car. also those numbers my talon put down were on 3 cylinders, true story. i'll save that for pm's if you want to know.:thumb:

oh i see this is that kind of forumLOL you can insult what you think are new guys, but if the new guy insults(lets say) vet member you can get banned. sorry you think i'm a moron or an idiot, i've had fast dsm's before it's nothing new. btw no need to :beatentodeath: i will stay out the forums because i don't have enough posts to become a wiseman.:p

Had you not been writing in an insulting manner, I would not have been insulting you.

My personal goal is to help new members, I save most of my posting for the newbie forum. No one has mentioned your ability to make a car/dsm fast or tried instulting your ability. I would really like to see you post on the forums if you think you can be helpful, but if you want to make people feel stupid I would prefer to not have to read what you have to say.

If you wish to discuss this more please pm me.
