Jdm 2g head question

For the most part a 2g/7bolt head is a 2g/7bolt head, USDM or JDM.

You will need the matching 2g intake.

No, it is the other way around, your 1g intake is semi useless for the 2g head you have.

Although not entirely true, since you could still use it, but it is not the correct thing to do.

I don't have it yet but was thinking about getting it because its not too much. My 1g head has a couple stripped valve cover threads. It also has some heli coiled exhaust manifold threads and I don't trust them.

I Helicoil all my threads in aluminum so I never have to worry about bad threads ever again.

Helicoils are really tough. The are hardened stainless steel, won't rust, harder than any of the grade 10.9 bolts like for the flywheel. If you ever have a thread problem with hilecoils the bolt will strip before the coil, which is the way it is suppose to work. It's almost always easier the replace a stripped bolt than a stripped threaded hole. You can get everything you need from McMaster-Carr. Just search their website for "helicoils" it will pop up.

I guess I just always thought that they would slip out and pretty much be a waste of time and effort. I don't fully understand how they work but I know how to install them.

If everything is done right they should be a tight fit and not back out. and they have locking ones too but I always use the regular type with the tang.

I have helicoils on all of my turbo to manifold bolts and a couple manifold studs in the head. I've never had an issue. If anything I would think they would be stronger than stock.
