JDM Engine Question

I am looking to swap a 6 bolt into my car, and would rather order a full built motor that i can just drop in. Is this a good idea to do? Also i have looked a few places and notice that some motors say they come with awd tranny, should i bother getting that if i am upgrading the clutch and flywheel.

If anyone knows of any good sites to order motors online, that would be great.

You won't need the tranny if your putting it in a 2g. You'll use your 2g tranny. You could look around for a usdm motor. There isn't that many differences bettween the two. The link above will tell you all you need to know about the differences. Good luck.

i guess im stuck between buying a fully new built motor and getting a 6 bolt and building it myself. Im a little nervous about building one myself because i'm not sure of everything i need to do, even after continually reading up on it, there are still things that im unsure about.

As long as you take your time building a motor isn't that hard as long as you have the proper tools. I would recommend getting things like ring gap and bearing clearence's checked while the motor is getting machined. That will save you the trouble of having to do it and worry if you did it right. As far as assembly goes it is pretty straight forward. Make sure everything stays perfectly clean.

If you want to rebuild yours yourself, I'd recommend getting someone there with you that's done it before, just so they can walk you through everything and its always good to have a second hand.
