This is very short and sweet but never got a straight answer. Whats the limit that a stock auto GSX tranny can handle. I have a 96, and I'm curious as to what it can handle without me goin opps, wtf?

You should know that it can obviously hold 453.54 horsepower.

but yeah... what destroys manual transmissions is shearing stress/force... launches, and the like.. when you're trying to put all 200 whatever ft*lbs of torque through the drivetrain at the same time.. with AWD somethings got to give, wheither its the tires spinning, the clutch slipping, the physical gear breaking... something has to release/absorb all that stress. a better clutch is less likely to be that "margin of safety" that slips instead of breaking hard parts... and hard parts tend to be expensive. same with running drag radials instead of street tires... the more grip they have, the more likely you are to break something
 
in terms of the cost of the hard parts vs. a new clutch, the hard part is going to be cheaper... :p
its just that the hard part is hard to replace, or very labour intensive, ie . expensive, while a clutch job can be done by a semi skilled dyi, in a couple days, or a single day if you have done it yourself.
