what if I told you, the on ramp is for accelerating
Yeah!
That looks good! Good positioning of the frame.
I see you got up to near red-line in 3rd gear, something I haven't quite done this year 😜
What software did you use to get the virtual tach and speedo onto the screen there?

God I love the sound of a 4G63. I adore on-ramps in my DSM(and my Edge) as long as no one is in front of me.

Yeah, best position so far.

Yeah, good on-ramp, and Top of 3rd for me is 7200rpm - I'm not trying my luck with stock valve hardware

The shift light on the dash is set for 7K, and makes a great sync indicator when setting up the data logs.

The software is called Race Render - by HP Tuners. The logo is burned into the video upper right corner - its a required position-able overlay in the unlicensed version.

The sound is better than I expected from an in car mic!

Testing.. testing.. check, one two, check check.
Justin, your ZT-3 Wideband, in the video it looks like it shows AFR of 21 whenever you are full lean, like when there is actually no fuel flowing at all (like foot off the gas decelerating in gear, engine drag). Some gauges show a horizontal line in that condition instead of a number. Like for "off scale" lean. Does yours ever show just a line there, dashes maybe? Or does it just show 21? Just curious about it, no big deal.

It pegs at a number, same as the logs actually.

Well, it’s probably time to address those expired tags… Wonder twin powers - activate!

Form of - airbox!

Shape of - catalytic converter!

Oh man, did this SOOO many times when I lived in CA. Luckily I actually found a smog shop where the guy was 100% cool with the aftermarket stuff under the hood, and if I called ahead to warn him I was on my way he'd clear some time to help me pass the sniffer. Even with a speed density setup with no EGR, 272/272 cams, and my own street tune I was able to squeak past the limits every time! Now I'm in CO which unfortunately adopted CA's emissions laws right after I moved here (CAN'T GET AWAY FROM CA'S SHITTY LAWS!), but the county I'm in doesn't require a smog test for passenger cars. It's kinda crazy, the voters in Denver keep voting yes on CA style legislation, but in a lot of counties and cities outside of Denver won't enforce them. We have the same stupid 10 round magazine capacity law that you have in CA but you can find standard and high cap mags in pretty much every gun store where I live. They outlawed real brake cleaner here too, but a lot of stores still carry it. I make it a point to buy 2-3 cans every time I'm at the auto parts store LOL.

and... I think I figured out a better fuel level calibration. I put in 9.5 gal, and it went from showing 1.4 gal to 16.5gal. I checked the sensor value at 6.5gal, 11.5gal, and full - 16.5gal with and without the engine running. The sensor value really jumps when the engine is running. Also the less gas there is in the tank, the higher the sensor value, and the larger the difference (running/not running), so I chose the engine running values, and spread out the data points enough to get more even reporting of the tank level.

Passed again without an issue!

But this guy was going by the book as far as he could - as long as it wasn’t a hassle for himself.

Example - to test the vacuum system function, he needed to access the charcoal canister under the battery. He decided that wasn’t necessary, as he could see the canister, and he had not identified anything that was modified, and the emissions test was good - so all is well

Its nice to see it running clean. Proves performance can be improved without burning holes in the ozone

Rad. Be sure to always keep this box unchecked for the testing. https://www.ecmtuning.com/wiki/lockecmlinkmode
Good point.
I prompted the guy in advance. I said this is a 95, and OBDII was not fully implemented until 96, so he did not connect to it. He would have had to remove the ECMLink plug already there - and he would not have done that without pointing it out to me first.

They charge more for pre-OBDII test. (more manual checks?)

True story, when I was in middle school they told us that by the time we were all in our 20’s the o zone would be completely gone.

Either we all died and this is hell, or we made it bois!

Fuel pump upgrade:

I installed it and did a test by monitoring fuel pressure, and turning the pump relay on in ecmlink.

First couple times, pressure went up to 68, then fell to 47 with the pump off. Looked good, and then something let loose, and now it won’t hold 1psi off, and max pressure is 12psi with the pump on.

Dangit. I bet the o-ring/connection between the pump outlet and the stock hanger got blown out.
