I just got the rest of my mods that I've had laying around installed finally (Evo 3 16G, SBR Manifold, Evo 3 O2 Sensor Housing, and FMIC). I was doing street tunes with the installer where I would drive and he would watch the wideband and adjust the S-AFC2. I keep getting boost creep of course and fuel cut. It sems if I go over like 16,17,18 psi I get fuel cut. First time it happened I thought my engine detonated hard or something. Very scary feeling. The tuner put like +5 at the boosting rpm points. Should I need that much fuel added with 680cc injectors? Also, I still feel the car holding back timing and when I hook up the logger I see timing not going much above 9 and 10.

So first.. is the fuel cut normal at these boost points and with the S-AFC setting?

and second, should I be needing that much fuel added? Does anyone else have a similar setup to mine that can share their settings, even if you have different injectors, I'd like to see some S-AFC settings from people with E316G's..

I was making fun of how behind both of you are on technology, you with SAFC and EVO 3, Tyler with his SAFC and 190. :D :p Although I think Tyler just upgraded to Link. :sneaky:

Hey now, that's not nice. And here I though you were complimenting us.

Oh, and don't forget the stock catback. :p

Actually, I'm not behind on technology, I'm just behind on how much money my wife will tolerate me dumping into my car. :D Don't worry, I'm probably pulling the trigger on a EPROM ECU and a chip later this spring. I think if I went with Link, my wife would chase me around with a pair of scissors. Although, she did just buy that $500 vacuum cleaner. WTF

I'm just trying to be cost effective. I'd love to have DSMLink and if I ever upgrade to larger turbo I'll probably get it, but this setup should be good for my 300hp goal..

But.. my wideband came in last night when. Hopefully, I can muster up some strength to go lay under the car in the cold to do this. I'd love to start tuning today.

I just installed my wideband, I made another post a few days ago.. but I just wanted to get all your opinions.. I was told that I should tune for a 10:1 ratio with the wideband.. does that sound right?

I went over all the couplings before.. of course that's not fool proof.. but there's nothing REALLY wrong.. I'm gonna do a boost leak test soon... but any input on the A/F ratio??

I have never seen, either in person or on forums, that someone had absolutely no leaks after such operations as turbo and FMIC install. Rule #1 after such install is the same as the rule #1 before tuning, boost leak test so you don't have to re-tune. It's also important that you install the sensor in a proper location (somewhere between the flex section and the cat flange of the DP) as well as making sure there are no exhaust leaks before the WB sensor which can throw off the readings. You can go ahead, after boost leak test, and shoot for 10.5:1 to 11.0:1, you can still go leaner but you should start and practice with a safer tune.

I'm going to ask the shop if they did a boost leak test. The peope did the install and the idiot who was trying to tune are two totally different people. The tuner guy doesn't do installs, he works the front and does tuning so I have a little more faith in them because they did a pretty clean install. If they didn't do a test, I'll have them do one.

WOWW... I just leaned out my hi throttle trims into the 20's and the gauge is still stuck at 10.0. which means it's still too rich.. but it's already pulling much harder and timing is getting better. I'm also not getting stupid fuel cut and sputtering like before. That's it for tuning tonight, I just wanted to see what I could do. I'll probably spend tomorrow tuning, I'll update you all soon..

This wideband is already well worth it..

You should probably buy the parts and make yourself a boost leak tester. It's not something you're gonna do only once. Boost leaks can "appear" as well, so you should do them occasionally, and it's a lot faster and cheaper to do the test yourself rather than take it to a shop.

If you have a leak, your tune will lean out when you fix the leak. It makes the most sense to fix all leaks before you fine tune. Also, if you have any big leaks, you'll work your turbo harder and overheat your intake air a bit more than with no leak. Those might lead you to tune differently.

Have fun!

Unless you have an eprom, your numbers are also way off for 660s.

I can't log IDC. Should I (and mnetwork) be able to with 2g stock non-EPROM ECU and, say, Pocketlogger?

Is your AFPR fuel pressure lower than stock to get your SAFC trims that small?
