would i see any difference if i went with something with ross pistons with higher compression and some rods? im just wondering if its really worth it. ill have the 16g running 23 psi with cams so i wont be making crazy power. i just wanna get some opinions if i should do that or just go with the 1g rods and 2g pistons since im putting a 6bolt together real soon. thanks alot

I would not go with evo pistons. They are a way to high of compression ratio and you wont beable to run much boost expecially on a hot air blower like the 16g. I would go with a stock 1g rod and 2g piston combo. It allows for a lot of boost on small turbos. 2g pistons would be the highest compression I would run on a 16g.

Unless you are going to be running high octane fuel. Then everything I said is wrong.

well whats the CR for 2g pistons? because i have pistons in my 7both that i could reuse but theyre just topline, not the best and i think they have 8:0 compression or something like that. im pretty sure stock 2g pistons have higher compression than that

I would go with the evo pistons myself, or spend a little more money and go with Ross/wiseco etc. for pistons.

After further looking at what DSM graveyard gets for the 1g rod/evo or 2g piston, I would say go with eagles and a set of pistons to match. The cost difference is only about $250 at most. Or of the budget is really tight, Aftermarket pistons hung on stock 1g rods with upgraded ARP rod bolts.

Stay stock your motor is enough for a 16g and buy a FMIC. If your going to do a build do it right or you will be doing it twice. I wouldn't waste 1700 on a frankenstein rebuilt motor when you can get a MAP built stg 1 motor for 2000 and a buschur stg 3 for 2500.

It depends on what you want. Do you need aftermarket ones with 23psi? No. Will your car be safer with them and able to handle more power? Of course. With the higher compression your turbo will spool quicker and you will have better off boost response. You could also make sure to get parts that are lighter than stock which would allow you to rev quicker and gain a little power back from not turning the extra weight. If you have the money building it would be beneficial in multiple ways. But, you don't have to build it.
