Review my mods from previous setup.

I just installed the e316g turbo and ported my exhaust manifold I was waiting on a ported 02 sensor houseing but it never came so that has to wait. Neways I took it out for a test and boosted way to high 20+. So I got rid of my mbc and hooked the wastegate straight to the compressor outlet pipe. This time I got 13 psi and at WOT it started creeping like crazy at about 4500 rpm. On top of that this car is slllllooooowwww at 13 psi. I was thinking about getting a header with an external wastegate setup to get rid of the boost creep. I dont want to do any porting on this turbo being its brand new and would void the warrenty. What kind of wg setup would I need and does everyone experience their car being slow as shyte after the 16g install? Oh and do you think the installation of my ported 02 housing (when it comes) will help eliminate the boost creep? Thanks for your help.

Try putting on an mbc and setting the boost at around 20psi (if your fuel system can handle it of course). I have a 16g and it boost creeps like crazy, but if i set it at 20, it'll only creep up a couple of psi and thats only on like a long 4th gear pull at wot. What size downpipe do you have?? My O2 housing is ported, and it still creeps pretty bad. From what ive heard, besides going external, just about the only way to get rid of the creep is to port the wastegate on the turbo and upgrade the flapper, or get a smaller downpipe if you have a huge one, or an O2 dump i guess LOL...

That should get you started. The second link helped me the most. The idea of getting the wastegate flapper to open a full 90 degrees is important. That porting the turbine inlet, the exh manifold, and the 02 housing. Id do at least the turbine inlet and wastegate flapper porting. Use a die grinder and carbid bits/burrs.

Good Luck! :thumb:

(if all that fails you can go external...try porting first though...and done put the cat back on because power loss is not worth it).

thanks for your replies to answer some questions I have a 3" downpipe no cat and 2.5" catback so pretty much my only choice is to port the turbo? I just got the 02 housing in and it is huge! at leaast now itll match that big 3" dp!! Guess its time to get the hotwheel back out

You will creep with that setup unless its ported correctly or you get an external wastegate.
Hope everything goes well.

Or get an undivided housing... http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233737 There is no reason to go external yet, try porting the turbo first.

Carbide. You can get them here:

Ebay or classifieds will probably be cheaper.

OK! Quite a day I had but I got the turbo out again, ported the waste gate to around 28-30mm ported behind the flapper so it could open farther and ported around that area, ported the "step" in the inlet housing so there was a smooth flow and added a ported 02 sensor housing. Put it all back together and it still creeps but not nearly as bad it'll boost to about 12-13 then slowly creep to 14-16 then stop. So its better than before but maybe when I boost it more when I get the fuel upgrade the creep will decrease a little (hopefully). Unessesary maybe but I must add that my car is slow as sh**t on this turbo for some reason it pulled waaay harder on the 14b at 18 psi am I doing somthing wrong here? Or am I just plain boosting 12 psi? LOL

yea all stock fuel except for a 190lph fuel pump...so why is this turbo slowing the car down so much more than the 14b? its it because it takes more effort to spool the turbo?

do you think i could set the psi at around 16 psi with just a 190lph?

With a 190 you should be able to, yes.

I'd venture to say that you're not making the most of your 16G partly because you're running through the stock sidemount intercooler. I've got a 14B and the stock sidemount and even that setup is holding me back big time.

considering that should I upgrade he fmic or fuel next??

Both. You can't turn the boost up without an FMIC or bigger SMIC because you'll heatsoak your stock one if you get fuel upgrades. And you can't turn the boost up with just an FMIC without any fuel upgrades. If funds are an issue, the ebay FMIC goes for under $300 shipped.

Fuel upgrades should always come first since running the motor lean for a prolonged period will create knock and beat the crap out of the bottom end.

alright good news Iv raised the boost to 16 psi and boost creep is almost non-existant!!! :rocks: still slower than the 14b it seems but as you guys of said this turbos potential lies in higher boost levels on fuel mods. but I think ill shoot for the fuel upgrades before the fmic and kindof lay off the boost a little till i get the fmic set up. How does RC 660cc's pocketlogger and safc sound? am I missing anything?

and do I need both the logger and the afc or can I tune and make fuel adjustments with just the afc?? Im on a tight budget  !!!

This would be my order:
Logger-to know whats going on
SAFC and Injectors- To tune and give enough fuel
Then some tractions stuff and wheel hop stuff

No it is not. The flapper will never open a full 90 degrees. The actuator only opens it like 1/2" at most.

I've been posting this at least 1 or 2 times a week for the past month. ;)

I got mine to open a full 90 degrees.

Oh and Congrats on eliminating the creep!
