2G Is this how the shift linkage is supposed to look?

Just got this 1995 Talon, automatic trans barely works. The car holds in park, reverse works, switching into drive, most of the time it does nothing, until the engine revs up a lot. Seems like limp mode to me but I haven't checked TCM codes yet.

This shift linkage doesn't look at all right to me, anyone have any photos of this area? W4A33 trans of course. In this photo it's in park.

That looks right for the linkage. I added some directions on setting it all up. As for why it's revving up I'd first make sure the transmission has fluid and it doesn't look bad. I'd also scan for codes, I attached a photo of which pins to probe. I used an old led strip and if you look online you'll find a long list of codes. I do know a constant steady flash means everything is working normal.

Unless you spilled fluid, there's a serious leak. Low fluid pressure could cause problems

That wet stuff is degreaser and water. It was dry, 1/8" thick in places. Oil, grease, dirt, leaves, rat poop, feathers, some straw in the mix. In another post I made in electrical, I found out the trans shift kickdown is disconnected as well as the trans oil temp sensor. Also the engine CTS connector is cut off.
