I traded my copper gst for this 98 auto gsx. The previous owner said the trans is blown. When I go to put it in gear it goes nowhere. I was under the hood today and saw this and wondered if it was on right. Im wondering if the tranny is still good.

the pic was taken with the car in gear. Is that normal or is something missing/not hooked up?

It looks like its the PRNDL switch, this tells the TCM what gear you selected on the shifter.
Could be faulty but i'm not entirely familiar with dsms auto trans. I'm sure theres a way to do a continuity check for each position.

That is most certainly the PRNDL switch. However its a bad picture.. Is the cable hooked up? Does it shift gears by manually shifting? Is it unplugged? Check your fluid as well it could be so low it wont go into gear... If somethings wrong with the PRNDL it can cause all kinds of problems...at least it does on american cars.

sorry guys, im trying to show the switch that you guys are talking about. I was just wondering if there was something missing off it. just looks outta place to me. Thats why im asking you guys.

What you're showing looks normal the question that everyon has is about the cable that you can't see in your pict. Is it attached and does the switch move when you move the shifter?

Check for TCU codes and most likely when people already know they blew the trans it's due to madd abuse. You can try a manual shift box to take everything out of the loop to see if it's mechanical and then go from there with tranny pump pressure tests, check fluid level of course etc.

That random extra piece with the hole in it is normal. Nothing is supposed to go on it.
