That's an oil baffle plate (MD324052). From my personal experiences with these cars, I have learned not to f*** with anything concerning the lubrication system. So I'd advise that you find this plate and put it on.

Helps with keeping the oil from sloshing too much inside the pan and fixes (to some degree) oil starvation during cornering.

I've never done a 2.3l 7-bolt but my guess would be that you don't have it because the 100mm crank would hit it.

The part is called a windage tray and it is meant to reduce oil foaming and remove excess oil from the rotating assembly. My opinion is that it is not critical, but if it does fit running it would be preferable to not.

windage trays are important it also helps keep oil in pan from smacking the crank and as SOADweskey said reduces oil foaming. oil foaming can cause aireation in the oil pump which can cause wear to the entire oiling system over time. racing oil pans have baffles to further help with foaming. if it were mine with so much invested i would get one but it can get by without just should know there is a benefit to having one and it is more of a thing with race cars.

Would any of you know the Bolt Size Required to bold it down to the Girdle.. I just picked up a Windage Tray From a fellow DSM'er, but he doesn't have the Bolts and Cant remember what they were but thinks they may be m8x1.25x16mm Does anyone know what they are or can confirm I will look on my Haynes for initial Bolts that came with it..

This is only in the seven bolt engines. Six bolts don't have them.
Sorry, I'm not sure on the bolt size.
