Is this a good method of seafoaming my 420a?

roughly what i did, but if you look at the amounts recommended, i only needed 1 can (1/3rd into the tank, oil and intake manifold). Your also gonna wanna change your plugs after doing a sea-foam cause it can foul them. Also i didn't add it into the brake booster line, just angled my SRI upwards with the filter off and poured it in their (doubt it matters) and i didnt stall the motor with big gulps. Beyond those subtle differences seems pretty standard.

two will be good i put one full can in my in my fuel tank(it was full) after i used one in my motor. but i guess it really wouldn't madder which way you do it?

i Think its better to put it in the tank right before you fill it up. you will get a better mixing and distribution

So I shouldn't use 2 bottles? Also what order did you do everything in and did you fill up your tank after pouring it in the gas? Can you please explain what you did step by step? Thanks.

It really does not matter what order you do them in. Usually you would only need 1 bottle and put 1/3 through the vacuum line and the 2/3 of the bottle in the fuel tank. This will clear out the entire fuel system. As for the oil, just follow Seafoams recommendations on the bottle, but make sure you change your oil after you run that because all of the carbon buildup in the engine that breaks free will be sitting on top of your oil.

Okay well I seafoamed it, and got new nkg iridium plugs and my idle still sucks. The needle bobs up and down when i'm at stop lights. Whats even more confusing is when im rolling and i push in the clutch it idles at 1200 unitll i come to a complete stop. I know its not any of my sensors because i bought a bored out throttle body that had all brand new sensors. Can someone please help me?

I believe the ideling is normal in these cars(correct me if im wrong) but i had the problem ever since i had the car. I changed my TPS and it still continued. I got used to it by now.

A vaccum leak would definitely cause a problem like this. Although at the same time, for as long as I owned my DSM my idle was always crazy and pretty much did whatever it wanted, anywhere from 2k down to 800rpm.

I haven't had any bad idle problems. My idles nicely at 800, which is where is has always idled. You can check for vaccuum leaks. A notorious spot is the intake manifold gasket right about the alternator and of course any loose or broken vaccuum lines.

To burp the coolant, remove the coolant cap with the engine cold. Stick a funnel that just fits the smaller portion of the opening tightly and top up the coolant. Start the engine and run it up to operating temperature with the funnel still in place. It should bubble out any excess air in the system. Once the bubbles stop, cap up the system (Careful that shit is HOT!!!)

Your cooling system is now burped.

The reason that people say to burp the system is because if you have an air bubble it will ALWAYS get caught in the thermostat housing which can freak out the sensors there. Some years react differently and just have a screwy idle, others won't even start or stay running.

30 bucks?!?!?:ohdamn: You can get coppers for less than 2 bucks a piece! I'm a firm believer in Iridium=junk. Just my $0.02 Also you might want to clean out your IAC valve. Especially if your still have the EGR hooked up. I'd nix that as soon as possible, too. Nothing like carbon filled exhaust gasses to muck up things!LOL Sometimes carbon will build up on the IAC needle and it won't be able to close all the way. A little bit of seafoam and an old toothbrush works wonders....

Thanks RoninEclipse2g. And Delta I just recently got a 55mm throttle body that had all new sensors so I don't think its that. Do you think burping the coolant will help?

edit: I can't take the egr off I have to pass California emissions.

I'm planning on doing this seafoam thing but I've heard that all you have to do is choose a vac line and put it in the can of seafoam and the rev the engine until it sucks up about 3/4 of the seafoam. Then let the car sit for about 15 minutes and then run the crap out of it. Is that a good way of doing it cause that seems like it would be the easiest.

i think 3/4 of a can is a little, much, but it has the doses on the can. And yes that way would work, but wont clean everything, as opposed to adding it to the fuel and oil should pretty much clean system

Hey thread jacker ;) we were talkig about my idle problems!

hmm....If you need to pass emissions, you can do the coke can method of blocking off the egr. That should block it off without throwing a code. Having an air bubble in your coolant can do all sorts of wacky stuff, so I'd say it will help. Can't hurt anything.
