Is it ok to use this bolt in my 6 bolt cylinder head?

Ask Me, Virginia
I recently went to remove my exhaust manifold studs on my 6 bolt head. One of the studs that broke was the middle one that goes into the oil drain part of the head.

I made the decision to drill out a larger hole and then tap it for a 12m 1.75 bolt or stud.

I went to Lowes and found an 8.8 12mx1.75 bolt and used it since studs of this size are not very available.

After putting it in, I realized the stud protrudes into the head.

I really don't know much about the head design or cylinders heads in general so I have a few questions:

1) Will the fact that the end of the bolt protrudes cost me power in some way?

2) Will the fact that the end of the bolt protrudes cause slower oil drainage? Would that matter?

3) Where exactly does the "hole" that the stud goes into actually go? It is my understanding that it goes into the oil pan. I want to know a bit more about this because there are metal shavings that dropped down this hole due to tapping/drilling etc. (The old stud is not in there luckily). I made the decision not to pull the head when I did this.

Thank you for all of this.

It will not heurt your HP

It may cause a bis slower oil drain back.. but that large chunk of cast flashing is slowing it more than the bolt.

You will be fine, just make syre to seal the threads.

Thanks all, so does the drain go directly to the oil pan or does it stop anywhere else along the way. Don't see why I couldn't use some brake clean and pull the oil pan then change the oil a few times with the car off.

The threads are sealed with the "right stuff"

How quickly does the oil drain at that point? Maybe just back the bolt out, shorten it and seal it?

So can I use brake clean then drop the oil pan and then clean it up? Run some cheapo oil and filter for a few hundred miles and then drain/refill with good oil and filter?

Where else does that passage go to besides directly to the oil pan?

Thanks
