i cant get enough of my 4th gear in the cobra. it jumps from 80 to 130 in about the time it takes to say "Holy Fuggin Shit!" the speedo needle climbs faster than the tach.

i hate other mustang owners as well. i went to a stang meet a while back, bunch of GT and V6 boys talking it up. laughed at a civic cause it had "a pep boys intake and fart can". i looked at the guy and said "dude, you have a K&N filter and weld-on flowmasters, you have the same mods as him!" i dont go to those meets anymore.

well i fooled with a SL v8 Kompressor today..i teasd him at 90 and 100mph.. he chased me for a few 100 yards..then stopped.. what a lame ass ..

the autobahn isnt speed limit free , just about half of it is.. i got alot of nice limitless road around here (part of the a6 and part a8)

i dont do this in the rain though.the MB/AUDI/BMW guys drive fast regardless of weather conditions..with thier super ESP lawsofphysicsbreakingtractioncontrol

Most DSM owners who are cocky, are the experienced ones. The ones who know how easy it is to make one fast, and have done so, and if their current DSM is slow, know that for a lot less then the competition, they can make their car as fast and even faster.

Perhaps that is why I too am pretty cocky. If I lose, I know I only spent $x amount of dollars, and this is with my old DSM, the knowledge I picked up from owning that, if I really wanted to waste my time trying to prove that I have a faster car, I can easily do so.

I definitely agree with the Mastang hatred. Theres a mid-90s mustang (i think a v6) and a camaro that run around here. I pulled into Sheetz the other day while they were hanging out... After I parked and was inside they left, their exhausts sounded just as bad as any fart-canned honda. They drove past my car slow, but when they were waiting to get out of the parking lot they sat there and revved like no tomorrow... and of course, did it the whole way down the road.

I really can't stand stang owners. BMW owners are starting to get to me lately. The ones owned by 19 year old kids who were born with the silver spoon up their ass and think they're the sh!t.

Anybody with a modded car is cocky. Even if it's just an intake and exhaust. Shit, even some altezza lights will do the trick. And, yes, Mustang owners are by far the worst. Flowmaster exhaust and a sweet K&N is all they need to transform into an absolute asshole. Thing is, they still run high 14's, on a good day. I guess I just don't get those guys at all.

I'm gonna agree as stated before, that its most likely the person that drives the car not just DSM owners. But as i'm sure there are some out there! And yes lets not even get started on Mustangs and espically SRT-4 guys! There the F****** worst. Here in jersey you have just about every type of a-hole out there mostly consisting of rich white boys that have Evo's, STi's, GTO's, SRT-4's just to name a few. Some hondas an ac's here an there but seriously whats the point to be so cocky? Its pointless IMO.

I, unfortunately, live in Northern Virginia; the mecca for men with "small penis compensation syndrome". I see TT Porsches, M3's, M6's, whatever the fast Benz is now, constantly. My neighbor 2 doors down drives an Elise. I see at least a handful of Ferraris and Lambo's every week, and there's a huge Lambo dealership about 3 miles from my house. Though the 1g I'm building now will hang with 75% of these cars going straight from a dig, I'd be an idiot to say I have the best looking, best all around performing car around. There's a TT C6 in my neighborhood now, Cobra next door, the list goes on and on. It kinda makes me sick in a way, the amount of money people have to piss away around here, but hey its the government, what do you expect.

I used to be cocky, back in high school, when I had my '72 Camaro with the Edelbrock bolt-on modded 350. Granted, it was about the fastest car in the area, until i went to the local 1/8 mile, and got my ass handed to me by a 2G dsm. (The local track is about 75 miles from where i am from.) I was pissed. Then i realized what money i spent on the car, which was alot, and what he had done to his, and i went over to him and shook his hand. He didn't know why, until i told him. I kept the car until last year, sold it, bought a Dakota sport because i needed something to haul my toys around with, and missed the car scene so i bought a '90 dsm and have been constantly working on that on getting it up and going.
I have respect for all people who put alot of time and money into their ride. I however, do not respect those who just slap on a can and intake, and talk shit about it all day.

I usually stay away from the whole, "my car can beat you because I have...blah,blah,blah".

When I pull into a lot full of tuners I like to hear what everyone has done to their car, and what they got out of it. I like to hear about performance gains based on set-up changes. That's the most interesting part of this game. Seeing who gets the most bang for their buck, with the best outcome.

I NEVER street race anymore. It's not worth it at all. I'm getting tired of risking my license for some ### bag in a 14 second mustang.

On the other hand, I CANNOT STAND people who ride my ass, rev up on me, burnout next to me, pretty much anything to be an asshole pisses me off. THEN, you might see be blowin' off a pound or two.

Some dude actually spit on my car the other night. I put my window down a said" hey asshole, you gonna lick that up?" When he smiled and said no, I hacked a nice one right at him. Unfortunately, his driver's side window was up.

Driving in a straight line is losing it's fun. I'm looking into drifting at this point. The Lexus SC 400 is VERY tempting. 8 cylinder 4.0L with RWD. HAHAHA. I love getting sideways. Plus, it seems to be a nice car for upgrades and easy HP.

I think that it depends on who is behind the wheel of a car. Modded car drivers tend to be more cockyer, as well as any domestic car driver with a v8. Im from milwaukee where Harley's and American Cars try to have all the glory down here.

Cocky people really have no agenda for respecting automobiles, regardless of what they are. im only cocky towards assholes that redline in parking lots, and cars doing weak breakstands in front of populated areas.

Good point. That's why I try to say as far away from cockiness as possible. Last time I talked trash on the way to the track my clutch fork snapped before we even got on the highway. That thought always keeps me check.

Although I do tend to start to get cocky after lots of street driving because it is faster than 99% of the cars I see on the street in my area. But then I go to the track and see real cars and that brings my ego way back down to earth, then I just feel like my car is slow, poorly assembled trash.

And I completely agree with the Rustang, BWM, SRT-4, WRX, and Supra people. No one is more cocky than those groups.

I really also tend to downplay my car unless somebody gets really up in my face about it. I'm gonna start driving it daily here shortly so I should have some interesting experiences. And Thomas91169, my dad owned a Cobra for a while that I modded. Never had it dyno'd but it was on a ported Eaton and most of the normal stuff, so well upwards of 500whp. Wicked car, but my 2g makes it feel absolutely tame, no joke.

I duno im not THAT cocky, but I see alot of ricey cars and half ass looking projects and roll my eyes.. Now the other day I watched a mint Dodge Charger roll past and my mouth half way dropped.. I will instantly give credit to a nice car.

But im not impressed by a beat up rusty full time drag car either. Gota be show & go, and useable on the street to get my attention.
