Is it just me or are 1G AWD owners cocky as all hell...

I like all sorts of cars but I really hate ignorant people. Like when some kid will come up to me and the first question about the car is "how much boost you running?". I usually tell them a million.

I get a wee bit cocky sometimes when I drive because, well... I like to drive a bit faster than the speed limit. Plus almost NO ONE around here mods there cars, so its not like anyone will show me up really.

BUT I do know there are MANY faster people than me, so I try to be tame. As for talking... I never talk about it. Don't want to make any enemies or get my car stolen or parts stolen.

Not really, I know my DSM is a POS right now, I hang out with a guy that has a GMC Sierra, another one of my buddy has a 500+ whp LS2 GTO and another one has a close to 500 whp SVT Cobra.

Looks like yours is just as useless. Boost pressure means nothing without knowing what's done to the car. 20psi on a T25 is not the same as 20psi on a 50 trim. Thanks for playing but I think you just proved the thread starter's point.

Yup. Which is why I just ask, "What you running in there?". If the guy wants to talk, its a 30 minute conversation, if he doesn't, he says, "ah nothing much", I say "cool" and walk away. The assholes that I have found are the ones driving domestics - mostly Mustang guys.

And then all the people who want to race me from a roll. I have an AWD, why the **** would I race from a roll? Besides how many people at a dragstip race from a 40MPH roll? Seriously WTF?!

I know 1 local 1G owner, he's a cool guy.

I have a feeling this thing is going to get locked.

i remember telling people "yeah, just 25psi" and see their face like . if they knew their shit their next question would be "what kind of turbo and what support mods are done?"

now if youre talking about airflow differences between turbos at the same boost level.........

he stated 20psi from one turbo is different than 20psi from another. nothing was said about cfm/airflow, just about comparing 20psi to 20psi. i know he was not being serious and was stating the same, though it did kind of come off like i was trying to contradict his statement.

I think I'm cocky in the sense of being mysterious. I'd show up somewhere with my 1g AWD and people would immediately think it was the baddest car there simply because it was an AWD turbo. I know what the car will do and I know what most of the people by me are getting out of their cars. I try to talk shop and see what's new with everyone and while most of the veterans are cool, there is always one kid trying to make a name for himself and trying to get me to race. I'll never street race so I go over and check out their stuff, I compliment, and I tell them good luck with the car and I walk away. I guess most people take that as me thinking I'll blow them away but I would rather enjoy my car and the process of making into my own personal creation of the perfect driving experience.

yeah i used to go up to a local aprking lot where a bunch of guys hang out wiht their ss cameros and mid 90 stangs and some guy has a ford lightening and all that great stuff. i respect all cars even if riced i try to just keep it to myself. well i avoid those guys but one day i was drivin home after school and one of those hillbillys followed me out of school got next to me and said nice car ###. i dont know if because its slower than balls(esi auto) or its purple, i like my purple talon, and he took off at the speed of smell in his berretta haha. next day my dad picked me up in his 99 m3 and lone and behold whos sitting next to me at the stop light. mhm nice car ###! my dad did a smart thing and said no turbo for my own good and gave me the esi and no turbo till 18. makes you appreciate and respect the car. but couple more months and ill be shoppin for awd

Thats kinda funny you mention it. My car hasn't ran in about a year but I still dis every Honda or any other supposedly fast car on the road. But in my defense the only thing I see around my town are "mad tyte" Hondas, Cavaliers, and Neons. There are no fast cars in my area that aren't v8's.

I don't know. As a FWD owner, I feel that all the AWD owners are a little cocky and very unsupporting of their FWD counterparts. Yes for the bang for the buck, you can get them AWDs off the line quick and genuninely speaking have a lot more fast ones, however they need to stop counting the FWD out.

In the end the GST is a different beast, but there are guys doing some crazy launches on them, some faster than AWD guys, while some lost maybe a 1/10th a car length. Once that traction kicks in and if you haven't lost too much ground that FWD guy is suddenly bearing down on you and passing you in a heartbeat. For that, I wish AWD would not be so judgemental of FWD owners, and just look at things for what they are. I personally want a backdoor monster, that runs you down, that is what is fun to me, the prospect of losing than shocking everyone. I also respect the AWD guys for what they do, which in more adbundance than FWD, make DSMs a scary site to that Mustang or Viper who was previously menacing the highway.
