Is it a GST or GSX?

So I'm working on buying a new Eclipse but I'm not sure if it's a GST or GSX. They said it's a GSX but I haven't been able to see the car in person yet. Here are some pics of the car I'm buying, can anyone help me out?

Can't tell from any of those pictures.

Ask them to take a picture of the underside of the car from the rear. That will be an easy was to determine as you just look for the rear differential in the middle of the rear subframe (indicating a GSX).

You need to get good pictures, and not base it off of something that can be changed. Do you happen to have the VIN? If so, I can check that as well and tell you.

Go see the car in person and look for a driveshaft, or rear differential..That will tell you for sure..

I just asked for a VIN. Do you guys have any pics of this driveshaft? So I have an idea of how it looks like, I mean like a picture of the bottom side of a GST and GSX?

If neither of these are present, it's a GST.


The black thing running next to the exhaust is the driveshaft.

Or it could be an AWD swapped GS-T.

When you see it, rev it to 6000 rpms and then pop the clutch. If the tires spin its a gst

OP- Just look under the car for the drive shaft and/or a pumpkin in the rear. Easiest and best way to find out.

How are we supposed to know what it's worth if we know nothing about the car? If it's hack-job modded GST, probably not. If it's a fully stock car, never touched, might be. If it's a well-built 10 second GSX, probably.

Get info, receipts, pictures (especially of underbody and under the hood), VIN #, etc. Either sounds like they're clueless about the car, or might be holding something back.

I doubt a FWD dsm is worth $3,800, they must be out of their minds. Maybe if it's modded but it probably has a ton of miles and will probably need to be fixed and it is obvious you know jack shit about cars. Kinda looks like it has 3inch exhaust and the body is nice but still it has california emission crap on it and it's a fwd. Get the milage, ask if it's awd, get the blue book value and take $1000 off it.

Ha, really? A clean 98 GS-T KBB's in at 4800 with 120k miles. It wouldn't be worth that if it were a 91, but it is what appears to be a super clean 98. Easily worth the $37-3800 the op is talking about.. There are several more factors that would affect price, especially in consideration to if it's AWD and the mechanical condition of the vehicle.

He's also going to need that California emissions crap, since he is in California. It would be a headache if it didn't have it.
