Is it a Bad Idea to

Hey is it a bad idea to paint a FMIC I was thinking of spraying mine black to keep it from standing out so much. So what does everyone think?

DO NOT PAINT IT. Get it anodized if anything.

i dont really know but it might have some effect on its cooling ability if you paint it.

This has been discussed a few times.

The paint willa act as an insulation to the FMIC, making it a tiny bit less efficient.

That said, I still plan on painting mine when I invest in one.

why the heck would you do that if its gonna make it worse? In my opinion thats on the edge of rice cause those cost a bunch and they alread look good without paint, why the heck make it perform worse so you can try to make something that already looks good look better. Instead of looking better its just gonna be ricey. dont get mad at me though thats just my opinions, go for it.

ever think that maybe he wants it black so hes not confused with the ricers with fmics and smaller turbos than 20g's?

The idea isn't to make it look better, it's to hide it because whenever people see FMIC, they either think "fast car" or "poser."

i guess thats a good reason, but i would be able to tell if it was a front mount painted black, but i guess alot of people wouldnt. Still whats wrong with people thinking fast car and if they thought i was a poser i wouldnt care unless i actually was one. Hey but i guess that thats a vaild reason, to try and hide it, i just personaly wouldnt bother.

Also, cops tend to give people with FMIC's more crap because all the posers with FMICs like to street race at every light. Just one possible less thing to deal with.

I was planning on getting a FMIC, but I wouldn't have money to buy a bigger turbo. So would that make me a ricer if I had a FMIC and a stock turbo?

A front mount IC is to big for the T-25, itll do more bad then good, so yeah that might sorta make you ricey, depends on how you look at it. Get a 16g, 14b, or something huge before you go FMIC. A upgraded SMIC would do you just fine on the t-25 or even the 16g and 14b size turbos. do some searches on the subject theres prolly alot.

Spend the money you would spend on a fmic for other go fast parts. The sidemount will be sufficient for a while.
