Is a short shifter worth it?

My transmission already feels like a wooden spoon in a box of rocks. Is a short shifter worth it? I already own the shifter but haven't put it in.

I guess the easiest response would be put it in and see how it goes. I'm just hoping to hear from someone with experience. (91AWD)

I bought a piece of crap eBay short shift kit. The one piece was machined wrong so I didn't use it, but the shift lever itself was a quality piece. It took a bit of Home Depot engineering to get everything to line up correctly yet still be sturdy and I am very happy with it. Did the shifter base bushings and the shift cable bushings too. No more problems getting into reverse.

I've got a short shifter on my Eclipse and I like the feel of it. The only thing that bothers me is if I have anything plugged into the cigerrett lighter I scrap my fingers on it. Or it gets caught when I shift
