So blew up the 2g in my 97 gst which was stock minus all bolt-ons. Have decided to go with a 1g 6 bolt, wanna keep it a 2.0(stroker+wheel hop=kaboom). What forged internal combinations have you had success with/like. Doing the whole nine yards, pistons, rods, etc. I purchased the Greddy 18g turbo kit a while back, planning on running that for a bit. All info appreciated. Oh yeah, keeping my 2g head, but it's gettin ported and built as well.

Hey man, Well i also have a 1g 6 bolt block bored .20 over pistons and rods. With my 2g head that was built also by machine shop 5angle valve job ect....all my mods are in my pro if you want to take a look at it. Some say its easier to just do the 1g head but i went with my 2g head. sometimes have to be diff LOL While u have the motor apart i would say do forged internals if you have the money. But also heard the 1gen rods and 2g pistons being a great way to go also.

Thanks for the info. What i'm trying to get at is brand names used for forged internals. Which are best performance wise.

You'll have to make some simple changes to get the six bolt to fit in the first place.
The drivers side motor mount will need to be cut to make space for the 1G water pump and the 1G lower timing belt cover needs to be cut for the 2G motor mount to fit through it. Also, 2G head stud holes will need to be enlarged for the larger 6bolt studs. One of the hole is used as the oil feed source to the head so it's important you don't skip this part just because the 6bolt studs fit. This is all just in case your'e doing this yourself and if you haven't done it yet.
As for the internals, Ross Racing pistons are expensive but a very good choice. And Eagle rods can support up to 700hp.

To point you in the right direction, this site has a very good selection for all dsm parts and if youre looking for internals then find parts you can afford (you get what you pay for btw).

If your not planning on passing 400-450hp, id stick with stock internal rebuild like JoEgsX90 said,
* 1g Rods/2g Pistons.
* ARP Headstuds
* Stock headgasket or Cometic (Your choice)

IMO Get everything cryo treated (costs next to nothing) and should hold up just fine.

BUT.. if your planning on going up to 600hp then..
*Eagle rods/Wiseco pistons are the most common builds for 600hp+
*ARP Studs all around
*Cometic headgasket
*ACL Bearings

If your planning on making more than 600hp..
Then you need to do more reasearch!!! Seach buttons do wonders ;)

DSM PWR is right only if your going to be making crazy horsepower arpund 600 or so will you will deff need eagle rods ect. If you not planning on going that high in HP and money is tight, you can always did what i did and do 1st gen rods with 2nd gen piston.s Its a great combo, and i havnt had a problem yet. Also im not looking to make 600 HP.
