I know I'm probly beating on a dead horse :beatentodeath: but I tried looking a bit without a direct answer I'm really looking for.

I'm starting on my build up and I'm trying to decide on what intake I would benefit more from, I have a 90' 6-bolt block that I'm installing a 2g head on it. I've been on a hunt for a EVO III intake, but I'm still trying to decide on what to run.

I have a 1g intake that was originally used on the engine but when I bought the car I also got a 2g head with the 2g intake with it.

I'm shooting for 400 to 500hp for my build, I'm wanting to have a decent mid to upper power range, after some of the reading I've found in the threads, I'm still undecided on which way to go?

With the 1g intake? porting the 2g head to match?

With the 2g intake? porting the 2g intake to match the 1g throttle body to it?

Try and locate a EVO III intake? Would the benefits out weight the down falls or the time it takes to locate one?

A aftermarket intake made for the 2g head? I would like to stay stock if possible

Anybody want to help me with my decision?

top end power .. go for a 1g race head from any vender machine shop. Magnus or jmf for the intake. making big numbers isn't cheap and cutting corners leads to reliability issues

I ran a 1g intake and I think it was fine til 400hp on my 18g.

I ran it for a while on my HX35, but the car would choke out up top a little too much for my liking. I recently switched to a JMF race SMIM and am very happy with the powerband. I have had HKS 272 cams, +1mm valves and a ported 1G head from day 1.

I have a very similar setup. Ported head, 1mm oversized valves, kelford 272s, and jmfab smic. I couldn't be happier with air flow.
