Im running a gm maf with translator. Can i run my car without the intake, so its just an open end of the turbo? Will that mess something up? What will it do if I run it without the intake?

If you're running the gm maf properly with a translator...then there should be no other issues (aside from stuff making its way to the turbo's inlet LOL)

You can run one of those really short mushroom looking filters on the turbo.. Or some kind of mesh....

x2 The last thing you want is some kind of debris making it in the compressor wheel and effn things up LOL. So i vote to put a filter on it at least :thumb:

In blow through mode yes, as the air isn't metered until it reaches the sensor.

As everyone else has said, cooler the air the better but it's your choice on what you want to do. One of my buddies with a 240sx has ran fine for 8+ years with only a velocity stack off the compressor inlet (no filter or screen) without issues. The turbo is in a different location though so that could be a reason as well.

I would stay away from mushroom filters and run either a Vibrant Performance or K&N cone intake filter.

X2 on the last sentence. Ive seen some people run "open" turbos if you will. Like stated above the cooler the better, so the second you open it up its sucking hotter air in...sure it may be less "restrictive", but if you have a big intake pipe, routed away from the turbo with a nice big KN filter thats your best bet. unless you are going for aesthetic purposes, which the people ive seen wanted it that way because of the way it looked for the most part. just my $.02.
