very new to the dsm community and am currently re doing the timing components and cam gear seals as they were leaking oil, i was watching some videos and saw that one person with a early model 2g gsx had a reluctor wheel on the inside of the intake can gear but mine doesn’t just wondering if this is normal or not because the po was very dumb with how they built this car

That was the 1995-1996 2ga model with the sensor near the cam gear. They went back to the other side of the cam after, which is what you have.

Yep, 95-96 have the cam sensor on the head "inside" the Intake cam sprocket. 97-99 have the cam sensor on the transmission side of the head on the Intake cam. all 4G63 1G engine have a combined cam and crank sensor (CAS) in the same location as the 97+.
