installed boost control only boosting 6 psi

I installed a manual boost control of this kind OBX BOOST CONTROLLER DSM 4G63 ECLIPSE EVO TALON GST GSX:eBay Motors (item 220463642690 end time Aug-13-09 17:20:33 PDT) and the car still won't boost past 6 psi. I do have an aftermarket boost gauge installed. I have the controller turned all the way up. I have switched lines, but still nothing. Can anyone help?

I should have mentioned: Be gentle, if it spikes to 25 all of a sudden, let off the gas.

Do you have a bleeder hole?

Without one, once you pressurize the line the first time, it will hold the WG open with the pressure still in the line, trapped by the check valve.

I'd stop before 15psi since you have no fuel mods. Though fuel cut will probably stop you before 25psi.

I did it this morning and still only 6 psi. I do have a bleeder hole. Is it just a really bad boost leak?

Did the car build normal boost before your MBC install and have you performed a boost leak test? Boosting to 6psi sounds like wastegate/MBC issues. That'd have to be one massive boost leak or a severe pre-turbo exhaust leak.

no it was 6 lbs b4 too. and i thought that was just stock. and i know there isn't a gasket between my o2 housing and the turbo

Are you sure you have your lines hooked up correctly? Is your actuator arm connected to the wastegate arm?

ya everything is hooked up. and i know my lines r right ### when i reversed it. it wasnt boosting at all

Do a boost leak test. Eliminate factors of lost air before you blame a simple part. BLT should be one of the first maintenance procedures anyone does.

well i did one a few months ago and it was hold the 20 psi i put into it. but it has been tore down since then

When it held the 20psi did it boost more than 6psi? Definitely do another. Its a quick check and can answer several questions immediately. When in doubt... BLT

i dk the car wasnt running properly at the time so i never drove it. But everything leads to a boost leak. and i will test it when i have the time. I am in the process of moving right now so I was just looking for a quick fiz that maybe i didn't catch

I did my BLT today and i am getting bleed off through the valve cover. I know i don't have any bent valves because the cylinder head is new. it was at TDC so no valves should be open. Anybody have a clue as to what could be the problem?

Possible PVC went bad. Check to make sure that you can't blow through it. You can go and buy a 1 way check valve from U.S. Plastics. I'm sure someone can post up the link since I don't have it. Was that the only thing you noticed though was from the VC?

I was getting some leak through the atmospheric and waste gate line on the boost control too but i am confused as to why I would be getting anything through the valve cover if all my valves should be closed and there is nothing between my intake manifold and valve cover. i removed it and blocked it off. So that means for some reason I have a valve open when i shouldn't right? and I did notice that b4 I put the head on that at TDC for some odd reason not all valves were fully closed. Could this be a cam problem?
